The photo above has been making the rounds on the internet recently. The Romney / Ryan campaign has been trying to show that they care about all Americans (not just the super wealthy), but their platitudes seem to ring hollow and this photo does nothing to help matters.
Look closely at this photograph – notice anything amiss?
The Romney / Ryan campaign touted this photo of Paul Ryan and his family volunteering at a food kitchen in Ohio recently. The only problem is the kitchen was not open and had been already cleaned for the candidate and his family. The volunteering was actually a photo opp but promoted as “volunteering to help the less fortunate.” When the campaign was questioned they backtracked to indicate this was meant to be an example of volunteering the Ryan family had done in the past.
Say what? Are you kidding me?
Prior to this photo-fiasco I hadn’t given the candidate’s volunteering a second thought. However, the integrity of the Romney / Ryan ticket has been questionable. This photo of Paul Ryan scrubbing a pot that had already been cleaned by someone else, in a soup kitchen without any homeless present makes the caricature of these men as elitists only concerned for the super wealthy even more of reality in my mind.

For a long time I was a volunteer at the local food kitchen for low income people living with HIV/AIDS. A few tips to the Ryan campaign: 1) men do not wear ties to work at a food service, 2) if they wear white shirts they are soon sorry that they did so, 3) wearing a crisp clean apron gets you zero street cred.
