A bit more than a 1 hour drive north of Boston, Ogunquit is located along the southern coast of Maine near the New Hampshire border. Sergio and I are lucky enough to have two friends who have a home just a few minutes walk from Ogunquit’s center who each summer generously invite us and a few friends to spend a relaxing weekend in Maine.

I do indeed love the place. I disagree w Bob on the overcrowded beach, unless folks are too lazy to walk 200 yrds north. The Atlantic is cold, but nothing you can’t fully submerge.

Book geek here. I cannot read “Ogonquit” and not think of “Fran” from Stephen King’s “The Stand”.
I apologize for associating such a lovely place with post-apocalyptic horror.

Once you wade past the Canadians that seem to love to sit on top of each other at the entrance to the beach, the rest of it is quite peaceful and nice. The town is cute with lots of good and reasonable restaurants and friendly folks. I am there almost every weekend in the summer!

Too many pretentious guys. Overcrowded beach with the cacophony of caterwauling queens, ankle numbing water, mediocre and overpriced restaurants. Only the marginal way is worth noting .
