Luxe app brings valet parking on demand to Boston

valet app for parkingOne of the biggest gripes people have about driving in Boston has to do with parking.  The San Francisco start-up, Luxe, which rolled into Boston this spring has come up with an ingenious solution.

Luxe is a phone app that sounds incredibly simple to operate.  You open the app when you are nearing your destination and a Luxe agent will arrive to take your car away for however long you want.  When you want to leave, press the app again and wait for the valet to return your car.

Luxe Boston Valet App for your phone

Luxe is now available in more than a half dozen cities through out the U.S. including San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle on the West Coast, Austin and Chicago in the Midwest and Boston, NYC and Philadelphia on the East Coast.

Let me know if you’ve used this app here in Boston or elsewhere and share your thoughts. I’m more than a little curious to hear your thoughts.

  1. I used the app in Boston (once), and it was a flawless experience. I took a minute ahead of time to figure out the street address of the preferred entrance to my workplace (on High St in the financial district), and entered in the app. A valet was waiting at the curb when I arrived; I grabbed my backpack, turned over the car, and walked into the building.

During the day, I was reminded to specify a pickup location and time. I specified 6:00 at the same location. Shortly before 6:00, the app notified me that the car was on the way, and it arrived within a minute of 6:00. The valet and I quickly swapped places and I was off; $25, plus a few bucks to tip both (and paid by credit card via the app), was a bargain compared to the cost ($40+) and hassle of parking in the building garage.

I don’t drive into town often, but next time I do, this will be my first thought for parking.
