Trulia recently published a map indicating which neighborhoods had the highest percentage of 1-bedroom apartments renting for more than $2,000.  According to Trulia, the median rent for a 1-bedroom in Boston is $2,300 but that may be viewed as a deal if you are looking for a place in the heart of Boston where rents continue to skyrocket.

In the national ranking Boston had the third highest percentage of 1-bedroom apartments for more than $2,000.  San Francisco had the dubious honor of taking first place with 90.6% of 1 bedroom apartments over $2,000 and Manhattan was a close second with 89.3%.  Boston was a distant third most expensive with 66.8%.

  1. It’s funny – I commute into Boston and Quincy. It costs me $330 a month for the train pass plus my rent in Providence is $800 per month. So there’s no way moving closer would make any sense.

  3. Maybe when this election is over, the American public will have instilled a president who not only wants to pay for their education but also the rent. We can only hope for that forward thinking!
