Tears of shame for the shameless

gun controlI disagree with the modern interpretation of the United States’ second amendment, and I’m painfully aware of how out of step I am with the majority of Americans  on this issue.  As much as the tragedy in Orlando breaks my heart (and it really does), something changed in how I view my country after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre so while this tragedy infuriates me and I agree with the Daily News cover – I have come to expect so little from my country and even less from my politicians that all I have left are tears of shame.

  1. Right there with ya, buddy. This madness has to end.

I can’t help but feel this time it’s different—although the next couple weeks will tell. It seems like the switch has been flipped in public awareness and there is genuine outrage at both Congress and the goddamn fucking NRA—something at least some of us have been screaming since Sandy Hook—if not before.

  2. I dont like them, nor do I have one, but with what we a letting into our country I think we might need one. Our world is changing and not in the right direction. Yes its sad that some nut job goes trailer park crazy, but do you want to be out gunned?

  3. I, too, was saddened by my lack of surprise at the tragedy. Although my husband is more sanguine about things changing, I find I have no confidence in the ability of our leaders (even those who want to help) to accomplish anything in the face of our culture of gun-worship.
