Why do we put stupid people on TV?

A reader shared that Rep. Bachmann never said the quote attributed to her above which on the one hand makes me feel much better and on the other makes me think – she strikes me as such an idiot that the quote seemed believable.

I try to keep my political ramblings to a minimum on this blog but this quote, if true, really bothers me. I may not like the Republican Party but there are a lot of intelligent people who I can have intelligent discourse with over policy and social issues who are Republicans, but they seem to be fewer and fewer each year.

Starting in the 2000 Republican Primary Presidential campaign, it seems like there was a move by some candidates to depict themselves as your average Joe. Since then, it seems like the Republican Party has increasingly embrace candidates who sound stupid. Why is there such an aversion to education and sounding intelligent? I can appreciate nobody likes a snob but the village idiot isn’t exactly a role model and that seems to be far more common these days.

  1. As someone who is not. American- the US Presientual race is followed with great interest outside the US. I’ve had a few persons say that they didn’t realize anyone else was interested in what was happening in the US race.

But the more I hear about Trumps and the Republicans’ comments the more I get scared about American leadership and its future.

  5. She is so stupid it hurts.

Someone will need to break it to her that “The Great Wall of China” is not a single wall – it is a series of walls built over many centuries and that each section has its own name.

It would not be until the 19th Century that the English term “The Great Wall” came to be used commonly buy people outside of China.

The original purpose of these series of walls was to keep at bay military threats – it has nothing to do with immigration exclusion.
