ImageT4J looks to bring holiday cheer to detained migrant children this Christmas: Please help
The organizers of Toys for Joys, Inc. (T4J), recently hosted their 10th Anniversary Gala this month and I’m pleased to share that it was an amazing success; toys and gifts from the event are being sent to children and teens throughout Massachusetts. This week T4J has taken on a new challenge and they need your help to spread the word. Please read and share this post or the link included below with as many people as you know, because time is of the essence.
T4J is working to collect additional donations for 5,000 migrant children (many of whom) have been separated from their families and are in the equivalent of detention centers. T4J has a lofty goal of raising $50,000 in the next week to help brighten what must be a terribly frightening time for these children.
If you would like to help, please visit the T4J website and make a donation today.

Hey Santa, all I want for Christmas is…
Boston firefighter dresses up as an elf
Earlier this week, my sister shared this post from Uplift on Facebook, which I thought was hilarious and wanted to share in case you have not seen it.
Toys for Joys is this Friday
I wanted to give another shout out for this year’s Toys for Joys celebration which will take place this Friday, December 7th at the Revere Hotel in Boston. Unlike most fundraisers, this event is devoid of rubber chicken dinners and long speeches. Organizers do ask that anyone who buys a ticket also purchase 3 gifts:
- one for tots (3-months to 5 yrs)
- tweens (6-11 yrs)
- teens (12-18yrs)
If your last name begins with A-M you purchase toys for a girl and if your last name begins with N-Z purchase gifts for boys. Gifts should be unwrapped and will be placed under the tree.

SSRun 2018 registration is now open
The 18th annual SSRun will take place on Saturday, December 8th
The SSRun began in Boston in 2000 with 5 guys just looking to spread some holiday spirit by running through Back Bay in only Santa hats and Speedos. Since then it has grown to include 700 men and women each year and has become an annual holiday tradition that has hosted thousands of participants who have helped to raise nearly $2 million for local children in need.
Long time readers of this blog will be familiar with this Boston tradition that has been replicated in many cities around the U.S. If you live in Boston and are interested in learning more visit their website, ssrunners.org.
10th Annual Toys for Joys will be Dec 7th
Save the date for the 10th anniversary of Toys for Joys, which will take place once again at the Revere Hotel on the first Friday of December. More details will follow over the coming weeks.

It is Christmas Eve day and many of you are probably running around taking care of last minute errands or traveling to be with your friends and family.

Boston’s Santa Speedo Run is Saturday, Dec. 9th
If you find yourself in Back Bay tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon you may want to head over to Boylston Street to see the 18th annual SSR (Santa Speedo Run). Scheduled to take place at 1PM, runners will line up at the intersection of Boylston and Gloucester Street (in front of the Hynes).
This annual tradition which has inspired more than a dozen similar runs in cities through out North America and Europe starts outside of Lir at 903 Boylston Street. Come down to check out all the activity. After a slight warm up the middle of this week it looks like tomorrow’s weather could be quite chilly so the runners can use all the support they can get.
