I’m writing this post several weeks later than I would’ve expected but with the balmy temperatures this fall, the beach season in Boston definitely extended far beyond expectations. I wanted to give a shout out to the mystery organizers who came up with the idea of Kiki Beach last year and have used social media to successfully reach out to Boston’s gay community to encourage them to takeover a small portion of Southie’s beachfront property each weekend.
I know some longtime Southie residents complained to the city this summer about a “new element” on M Street Beach (it resulted in more policing along this section of Southie’s beaches), but for Boston’s gay community, Kiki Beach has been a welcome addition. With the sale of the Manhunt Mansion and the demise of Ra-Cha-Cha in Randolph, Kiki appeared on the scene at exactly the right time, and I look forward to the 2018 Kiki Beach season. Below are some fun photos from this summer at Kiki Beach. If you have not yet come down to M Street Beach in Southie, put it on your to do list for next summer. It’s a blast. Just listen for the dance music that will be playing and men standing in Speedos gabbing.
Calling all club kids: NYU sociologist, Victor P. Corona comes to Boston this week for a book signing at 6PM at the Newton Center Barnes & Noble on Wednesday for his book Night Class: A Downtown Memoir.
Meet this club kid turned professor and get a signed copy of his book which dishes on meeting Lady Gaga’s old Lower East Side tribe, diving into the midnight madness of NYC’s wild hotspot, The Box, and hanging out with grown up Limelight club kids and the surviving Factory Superstars who are still shadowed by their friendship with Andy Warhol.
Then on Thursday, join Corona who will be at a party in downtown Boston with Season 9 RuPaul Drag Race contestant (and fellow Bostonian) Charlie Hides at a party hosted by the divine Dusty Moorehead at Whiskey Saigon.

However the biggest event of the week is 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta which will bring more than 11,000 athletes to Boston and Cambridge to race all day Saturday and Sunday along the Charles River.

Recently I stumbled upon the Living Gay Brisbane blog. I can’t tell you too much about the writer who as near as I can tell has remained anonymous but describes himself as a 20-something millennial who insists he is not a cliche. From reading a few of his posts, I can tell you this 20-something, who calls Brisbane, Australia home, is quite funny.
His posts tend to be fairly brief and easy to read, injected with humorous observations like this fairly recent post, My first time… Getting waxed.

QUICK ‘Queer Inclusive Climbing Klub’ brings together climbers of all levels to meet and hang out on the ropes indoors and out. If you are curious to try rock climbing for the first time or if you’ve been doing this for years, you’ll want to check out this group which meets regularly.
