Christina Aguilera “Wheel of Musical Impressions” on Jimmy Fallon

Last night season eight of The Voice premiered (does this show ever go off air?) and Christina Aguilera is back once again as a coach.  To promote the show she joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.  Jimmy asked her to play “Wheel of Musical Impressions” where she had to channel the likes of Cher, Brittany and Shakira.  She was flawless and perhaps at her best singing The Folger’s jingle as Cher, but even Brittany fans are likely to love her version of how Ms. Spears might sing “This Little Piggy”.  Say what you will but sitting down without any heads up she does a better live impersonation of Brittany Spears than Brittany could.

Tweet of the Day Cindy CrawfordLast week this image of Cindy Crawford created quite a stir on Twitter.  I think Charlotte Wilder put it best when describing her reaction when she wrote, “Until last weekend, I thought of myself as the kind of woman who wasn’t affected by how the media portrays women. I thought I was too aware and too savvy to hold myself to standards of beauty that are unreal. Magazines Photoshop everybody and everything. Everyone knows that.”

I’m not posting this image to comment on how Cindy Crawford looks.  I’m posting this picture because I think even jaded savvy consumers like you and me are deluded if we think we have a healthy understanding of what a gorgeous woman like Cindy Crawford looks like as she ages (quite gracefully I might add).

I don’t begrudge anyone who wants to Photoshop their photos or engage in any kind of nip and tuck to help hide their years, but I do think that we would all be better off if we kept this image firmly in mind.  Cindy Crawford is beautiful, but she isn’t 18 years old so let’s stop pretending that is an ideal one can maintain. Youth is precious because it is fleeting. If it was forever it wouldn’t be coveted.

Annual Bugs Bunny Festival

Cartoons, AnimationAlthough I’m sure this is really intended for kids, I think cartoon fans of all ages might find the 20th Annual Bugs Bunny Festival something fun to attend.

Starting later this month, for one week the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge will host their Annual Bugs Bunny Film Festival.

The festival features 3 different programs:

– All Bugs Revue
– Daffy Duck & Friends
– Looney Tunes Review

Is there any doubt that Late Night TV is in the midst of a Renaissance? I love Kimmel’s fictitious beef with Damon that goes back to when his former girlfriend, Sarah Silverman shared this hilarious video, I’m F*cking Matt Damon.

I’ve not been following the details of ‘DeflateGate’, but this video from Jimmy Kimmel Live last night is hilarious.  Love all those local Boston actors.

Chris Pratt named Hasty Pudding Man of the Year

Hasty Pudding Man of the Year AwardFollowing last week’s news that local gal, Amy Poehler was named 2015 Woman of the Year award from Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals. Yesterday, her hunky co-star, actor Chris Pratt, was named as Hasty Pudding’s 2015 Man of the Year.

The Man of the Year festivities will take place on Friday, February 6, 2015 and include a celebratory roast at Farkas Hall, the Hasty Pudding’s historic home in the heart of Harvard Square since 1888. A press conference will be held at 8:30 p.m., following the roast. Afterward, the Pudding will stage the opening night performance of its 167th production, ¡Oops!… Madrid It Again!

Amy Poehler to receive 2015 Hasty Pudding Award

Harvard University Hasty Pudding Woman of the YearBurlington, MA native and Boston College graduate, Amy Poehler, will be returning home at the end of this month to receive the 2015 Woman of the Year award from Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals. The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, January 29th and will include (as is the custom) a parade through Harvard Square with Hasty Pudding men in drag and a roast.  No word yet who the Man of the Year will be.  Last year’s winners were Helen Mirren and Neil Patrick Harris.

Top Chef BostonNormally I ask you to caption a photo for me, but last night on Top Chef New England Patriots player said it all and Eater Boston was there to tell us all about it.

Michael Bublé Christmas special tonight

The special, which was filmed this past October at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in on NBC at 8pm ET and will include  Barbra Streisand, Ariana Grande and my personal favorite, Miss Piggy.

EW’s Mean Girls’ reunion interview

The 2004 flick, Mean Girls,  written by Tina Fey remains one of my favorite teen films of all times.  For the movie’s 10th anniversary, EW invited the film’s female leads to come together and dish about their memories, behind-the-scenes magic, and what they think their characters would be doing now.

These are some of my favorite Mean Girls quotes:

Saturday night video: Emma Stone

This week Emma Stone visited the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and it reminded me of  her last visit in the spring when Fallon challenged Stone to a lip sync battle.  Who would’ve guessed that Stone would annihilate Fallon? I love this clip, but for all you ADHD types out there, if you get impatient fast forward to 5:20.
