Some of the events this year include an opening night party at The Vault from 10PM – 1AM; Mr. New England Leather Competition at the Paramount Nightclub that starts at 9PM; and a Tea Dance party called “After Glow” at The Vault from 3-6PM.  Sadly the fast ferries between Boston and Ptown are no longer running but that shouldn’t deter any of you contemplating going.

Provincetown humor

Ptown, ProvincetownI suppose this is an inside joke if you are not familiar with Provincetown, but when I saw this a couple weeks ago I couldn’t resist snapping a photograph.

Swim for Life in Ptown this weekend

Twenty-six years ago two men, Jay Critchley and Walter McLean, organized the first Swim for Life, which raises money for local health services.  Back in 1988 eighteen swimmers took the plunge and raised $6,000.

In the early 1990s prayer ribbons were initiated to provide visual witness to the swimmers as they crossed the harbor from Long Point to the Boatslip where the swim concludes.  Each swimmer inscribes the names of those they love and a personal message.

Swim for Life Saturday, September 6

Held the weekend following Labor Day, the event has grown over the years, attracting 150 volunteers and more than 400 swimmers. For more information visit swim4life.org.

The crowds came out in an array of colorful costumes with a large number of Batman, Superman, Spidey and (of course) Wonder Woman but some got fairly creative.  Enjoy this video of all the fun in Provincetown this past week.
