The Slutcracker opens Friday, December 1st

BosArts, Fringe Theater

“Dance of the Reed Pole”

“A Great Hymn to Christmas and Sexuality” – John Waters

One of Boston’s naughtiest holiday theatrical traditions, The Slutcracker, opens later this week on Friday, December 1st at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, The Slutcracker provides a scene-by-scene retelling of The Nutcracker with a naughty twist.

Performances start Friday, December 1st and will run through December 31st, but tickets to this show sell quickly and they have a limited calendar the last week of the month so do not delay.

Slutcracker opens on December 5th

slutcrackerOne of Boston’s more notorious holiday traditions is the R-rated burlesque show, The Slutcracker.  The satirical version of the classic ballet has a naughty edge and draws a far more rowdy crowd than those attending Boston Ballet’s production at the Opera House.  Sergio and I attended this show a couple years ago and had a good laugh.  I would strongly recommend making a night of it by planning dinner or drinks, but arrive with plenty of time if you go with a large group on a weekend since it is general seating.

The Slutcracker is for adults only (18+) and opens on Friday, December 5th. Performances run through New Year’s Eve, but check their calendar in the link below since they don’t have performances every night.  All performances are at the Somerville Theater in Davis Square.  You may purchase tickets here.

The Slutcracker: Holiday cheer for the twisted

Boston SlutcrackerAre you struggling to get into the holiday spirit? Looking for something a bit different to do? If you live in the Boston area, check out the Boston classic The Slutcracker, a burlesque, satirical version of The Nutcracker that opens tonight at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square and runs nearly every night through the month of December.

The production is the brainchild of Babes in Boinkland troupe director Vanessa White. While it is not quite what you will see if you attend the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker, what it lacks in technique you will find it more than makes up for in laughs. It may be the best holiday entertainment for the money.

Tickets ($25) are currently on sale. More information about performances and how to purchase tickets can be found here.

Heads up – the video may not be appropriate to play at your office.

The Slutcracker

The Slutcraker returns to Boston for its 5th year.  This home-grown holiday spectacular returns to the Somerville Theatre this December and will proudly host a very special holiday show on Christmas Eve.

This scene-by-scene retelling of the Nutcracker, resplendent with ribald parody, “whisks the audience away to a carefree realm of sexual fantasy.” Do you have an uptight friend? Bring them with you and watch them squirm.

This year’s performance starts on Saturday, December 1st. Tickets are $25 and will sell fast.  Here is my write up from last year.
