It is so rare to find good photos of men of color from the past that I like to share them whenever I find one. I have no idea where these men may have been when this was taken or how long ago this was taken, but I’m hoping readers will be able to help.

It is the middle of winter here in Boston so these beach photos from what looks like the 1950s, makes me really miss the summer and spending lazy days at the beach with Sergio.

I love this photograph which (like last week’s post) I believe dates back to the late 19th century. Can anyone glean any details from the clothes they are wearing or the furniture in the lower left of the photograph?

I love this photograph which suggests it dates back to the late 19th / early 20th century. Their synchonized pose with left legs crossed, hands in each others and pipes, cigarettes (or whatever that is) justting off to their left is picture perfect.

I haven’t a clue when these two guys may have cuddled up next to each other to pose for this photograph. I’m wondering if anyone can date this based on their attire?

This week’s photo was taken somewhere between 1958 and 1961 when Allen Ginsberg and Peter Orlovsky were romantically linked.

What a lovely intimate photograph of two men relaxing quietly together in the sun. This is something I’d love to be doing with Sergio but the winters in New England are long and unless we hop on a plane, it will be several months before we can do this here in Boston.

I’m fairly certain I’ve posted this photograph in the past around this time of year. I have no idea who these two men are or what may have become of them, but I love the photo of the two of them together with their pet cat by the Christmas tree.

This is the second week in the row that I wanted to give a shout out and thanks to BosGuy blog reader, Angel from Asturias Spain for sharing this rather cheeky photograph of two men conserving water. The lack of clothing makes it nearly impossible to date the photo but I’d be curious if anyone can hazzard a guess.

Much thanks to BosGuy blog reader, Angel from Asturias Spain for sharing this wonderful photo of Leonard + Friend. I love how cozy these two military men look. Are they goofing around or is their affection more than platonic? I have no idea but it’s fun to think what their story may have been. Anyone able to date this based on their uniforms?

I wish this photograph was larger, because I love this ‘tough guy’ look and how the three are identically posed with legs crossed at the ankles, arms crossed, similar shirts open at the chest, and cigarettes hanging out of their mouths while they look straight into the camera. Anyone able to place or date this photo?

Jess Collins (viaual artist) and Robert Duncan (poet) are depicted above in a photo taken at some point in 1958 or 1959 in Marin County at Stinson Beach in northern California. Jess was a member of the 1950s San Francisco art scene and met poet Robert Duncan in 1950. They remained together until Duncan’s death in 1988.

Earlier this summer, the blog ultrawolveunderthefullmoon had a nice post that introduced me to the couple, which you can read here.

Long time reader and avid commentor, Angel, from Asturias Spain shared this with me a few months ago and I thought it was the perfect post to share this week since tomorrow will be Veteran’s Day in the U.S. This image comes from Michael Stokes 2020 picture book, My Naked Soldier, which was inspired by an even earlier book by Stokes called My Buddy.

I almost didn’t post this photo because without any clothes and the two men looking away from the camera it is really hard to tell when this may have been taken but the photo comes from the racy Twitter profile @oldmasc, which focuses on vintage and historical images of men through the years. Anyone an expert in pool design who may be able to provide a guesstimate on when this may have been taken?
