Movie night at Fenway, Thursday, Aug 27

Fever PitchOn the 10th anniversary screening of Fever Pitch, Fenway Park will host the movie on a high-definition screen in center field.  General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under (free for children 2 and under). Gates will open at 6:45 p.m. and the movie will start at 8:00 p.m.

The East coasts first 4D movie theater opens in Boston

Fat CatFor those of you who love going to the movies, check out the newly refurbished Showcase Cinema de Lux in Revere. It is only the second in the nation and the first on the East coast “MX4D” theater. MX4D theater allows viewers to experience major motion pictures in an exciting new way; immersing you in the action on screen via an array of carefully programmed special effects including, moving seats, bursts of water and real-life smells (that last part does sound a bit nasty but maybe you’ll enjoy it).

Tomorrow night if you happen to be in Ptown I’d encourage you to consider participating in the Friday Gallery Walk, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Provincetown is home to some truly exceptional artists and is a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful evening out.

Anyone contemplating visiting galleries should check out The Alden Gallery at 423 Commercial Street.  Joerg Dressler, a former South End resident and friend, will have work on display as part of a two-person show, “Joerg Dressler and Heather Toland”.  Their works will be on display and available for sale through Thursday, August 20th (Carnival Week).

Opening reception: Friday, August 7th from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Adam GarciaCan you believe that fifteen years ago yesterday, the romantic comedy-drama starring Piper Perabo and the adorable Adam Garcia, Coyote Ugly, shown in the photograph to the left was released?

Lee Ann Rimes theme song, Can’t Fight the Moonlight, was in heavy rotation in Ptown that summer.

I remember dancing to this song at the Boatslip and can’t get my head around the fact that was so long ago.

New James Bond movie trailer: SPECTRE

Last week a new trailer for the forthcoming James Bond movie, SPECTRE, was released. The film which stars Daniel Craig as James Bond and Ralph Fiennes as the new “M” is scheduled to open in the US on November 6, 2015.
