Furry Friday
Since Boston’s Santa Speedo Run is tomorrow, I thought I’d inject this photo from a run a couple of years ago. When this photo was taken they had yet to run but were working up the liquid courage to run through the freezing streets of Boston for the 1 mile charity run.
What to do this weekend
Toys for Joys is at the Revere Hotel on Friday, Dec. 8 (Do you have your tickets?)
As would be expected, there is a lot happening this weekend, but I’d like to give a shout out to a few events not to miss starting (with a personal favorite) 9th Annual Toys for Joys Gift Gala at the Revere Hotel on Friday.
Also happening this weekend: 18th Annual Santa Speedo Run Boston, Tremont 647’s Cookies and Cocktails Saturday afternoon and on Sunday if you have the energy head to Sunday Tea Dance at Club Cafe.

I plucked this photo from the Kiki Beach IG account and aside from the two names scribbled on the bottom of the photo I don’t know much. I would venture a guess that this might date back to the 1940s simply by the look of the bathing suits Jeffrion and Felix are wearing. Anyone else able to venture a guess?

Holiday gift idea: Warwick Rowers 2018 calendar
Are you and your friends planning a Yankee Swap or Secret Santa? Do you have a friend who is tough to buy for and you can’t spend a lot of money? Why don’t you consider the Warwick Rowers 2018 calendar?
At just under £10 you really only have to worry about ordering it in time to get here before your holiday party or gift swap.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the male rowers at the University of Warwick Boat Club, these men have been creating & selling calendars since 2009. Proceeds raised from the sale of their calendars, videos etc go to
- Promote positive, inclusive and respectful attitudes towards people of all genders and sexualities through the content that they create
- Fund university rowing and particularly to make rowing more accessible to a wider number of students
- Ongoing development of Sport Allies, a registered charity with a mission to promote sport, and particularly team sport, as an inclusive and supportive route to personal growth for everyone
If none of that really matters, it doesn’t hurt that each year the young men are so damn good looking in that ‘guy-next-door’ sort of way. For their more revealing photos you’ll have to check them out online or better yet peruse their many products for sale, here.

What to do this weekend
The holiday season is in full swing and that means there are a lot of events and opportunities to get out. Holly Folly weekend starts on Friday in Provincetown.
There are also several World AIDS days events taking place on Friday in Boston and Provincetown including a World AIDS Day event at The State House and Strike a Pose For World AIDS Day at MIT.
There also happen to be a number of parties that you may want to check out including the opening of Boston’s bawdy holiday spectacular, a.k.a. the SlutCracker, which opens on Friday; Boston’s fetish party FASCINATION Friday; The Alley Bar’s weekly dance party, Grunt; and The Trophy Room’s first Boibutter Brunch on Sunday – just to name a few.

How Gabe Kapler’s body image helped gay male sports fans
I wanted to highlight an article about body image and feeling comfortable in your own skin after reading an article earlier this month on the OUT Sports blog which featured former Red Sox outfielder and the next manager of the professional baseball team, Philadelphia Phillies.
Gabe “The Babe” Kapler (as I often referred to him) was featured in the blog’s post, Why new Phillies manager Gabe Kapler was important to gay male sports fans. While I don’t know if I agree with all their points, I do agree that Gabe has an amazing body and has always been happy to pose shirtless. In an age where athletes continue to train to build endurance and avoid injury, Kapler was the rare professional baseball player with a great physique who liked to show it off. While he is happily married with two teenage children, if my memory serves me correct he was a great advocate for his wife when she spoke out about domestic violence (something she had to contend with in a previous relationship) in addition to being socially accepting of LGBTQ issues.

Be sure to get out and enjoy one or more of these select events that I’ve shared below. There is a little bit of something for everyone. This week Hillary Clinton comes to Boston for one night, but if politics isn’t your thing you can check out the Mass Bears and Cubs Bear & Cub Social at Cathedral Station, Atomic Karaoke at Club Cafe and Queer Boston Board Gamers later this week.
Holly Folly weekend starts on Friday in Provincetown (but more on that later this week), several World AIDS days events take place on Friday including Strike a Pose For World AIDS Day and a World AIDS Day at The State House. For some bawdy humor check out the SlutCracker which opens on Friday and runs through December 31. Lastly close your weekend by attending the first Boibutter Brunch at Trophy Room on Sunday.
