This week on Instagram: zakartwins

The Zakar twins are equal parts cute and funny.  They are proud of their Iraqi heritage but grew up in the United States. In 2017, they self-published their book Pray the Gay Away, in which they tell their personal story of first coming out to themselves then later to each other and then ultimately to their Mom who had more than a little difficulty coming to terms with the news.

The Instagram account is filled with pictures of the twins (often shirtless). The twins have a great sense of humor and use their Instagram to show it off which is refreshing to see as you may be able to tell from the photos I’m sharing from their Instagram account.

This week on Instagram: bearscubsandbeards1

The name of this Instagram account more or less says it all. But just in case you need more details, their account description says this is an account for bears, cubs, bearded men, and natural men to celebrate the diversity of beauty.

For those of you who identify with or appreciate men from these gay tribes,  it is an account you may enjoy following or possibly submitting a photo or of yourself.

This week on Instagram: guimclln

This week I’m featuring the Instagram account of this handsome Brazilian doctor who practices medicine in Sao Paulo. His name is Guilherme Mocellin and account is filled with photos of his handsome partner, Fabrício Ternes, and their lives together.

I don’t know much more about Guilherme, although I’ve featured his partner as a Furry Friday in the past (the link above takes you to the IG photo I’ve used previously). After looking through Guilherme’s Instagram and all his playful photos (like the one below), I’m inclined to also add him to a future Mancandy Monday post. What do you think?

This week on Instagram: paulodelvalle

This week I’m featuring the Instagram account of a very talented Brazilian travel photographer. This year is nearly over and even though travel restrictions will remain in place, I’m hopeful that it will become safer to travel again in 2021.

Paulo’s beautiful photos can’t replace the enjoyment I get from traveling but it certainly is wonderful to see his posts pop up on my feed. If you love (and miss) traveling, check out this Instagrammer who posts beautiful images regularly.

This week on Instagram: yy6241

This week I’m featuring the drawings of Korean artist, Dopey a.k.a Dopq, who also has a Patreon account, here.

I don’t know very much about this cartoonist except for the fact that he seems to like to draw photos of burly men. His drawings range from sweet moments like the one above to more playful and sexual. Since this is Instagram there is nothing all that risqué but he can capture a mood quite effectively, allowing your imagination to wander into depictions definitely not allowed on Instagram. Dopey has more than 50,000 followers so some of you may already be aware of and following him but for the rest of you check him out.

This week on Instagram: sowapowerstation

This week’s featured Instagram account which features the SoWa Power Station will appeal to fans of architecture and those who live in or near Boston’s South End neighborhood. This building had the distinction of being the largest power generation plant when it was built in 1896, but when Sergio and I moved to the South End in 2003 it was used as a parking lot. Recently, the 100+ year old property is being restored by GTI Properties to be converted into office and special event space.

Perhaps the coolest event Sergio and I ever attended at the Power Station was Illuminus Boston, but there have been many events hosted through the years and as this property is transformed, I’m curious to see what / who else may make use of this unique property. The Instagram account started posting photos in early October and the photos are a combination of special events that have been hosted in this space as well as the ongoing construction to update this unique building.

This week on Instagram: bittercalm

It was just one year ago that Sergio and I were traveling through Buenos Aires, Argentina where this handsome guy calls home but sadly our paths never crossed. I only discovered his Instagram after our visit but he has a respectable following with more than 70k people so maybe you follow him already.

I wish I knew more about this guy. Anyone recognize this cuddly bear who lives in the San Telmo neighborhood of B.A.? I can tell you he enjoys posting photos of his backside and other suggestive photos so you may want to look over your shoulder before you check out his account which is linked below.

This week on Instagram: mr.rutherford

This week I am featuring the Instagram account of American model, Eric Rutherford. I envy this 50-something’s wavy salt-n-pepper hair and appreciate his classic good looks and assume you will as well.

Many of you may already follow Mr. Rutherford since his Instagram currently has 200,000+ followers but for those of you unfamiliar with this out and proud male model he’s worth checking out and following.

This week on Instagram: tomwilsonleonard

Tom is a yoga teacher, personal trainer, photographer and gymnastics coach. He specializes in Power Yoga and hybrid movement practices and teaches in London. His Instagram feed is filled with equally beautiful photos. Most of the positions Tom has photographed I could never do but I love seeing his photographs pop up in my feed.

Since many Americans will likely overeat at Thanksgiving, I thought I’d include this post as inspiration to follow Tom on Instagram. You can learn more about him online at tomwilsonleonard.com.

This week on Instagram: problak

Rob “Problak” Gibbs is a Roxbury native, who has been transforming Boston neighborhoods with graffiti art since the early 1990s. Earlier this summer I featured his mural, Breathe Life 2, a continuation of the image shared above in this post, Urban artistry of Rob “ProBlak” Gibbs, Breathe Life 2.

If you’re looking to add artists to your Instagram feed, I’d encourage you to check out this accomplished artist who earlier this year was approached by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston to team up – a first I believe for the museum to collaborate with a local artist of color.

Below is a piece Gibbs did for the Underground at the Ink Block park – a favorite park of Sergio and mine that is under the Interstate in the South End.

This week on Instagram: scottie.marsh

Scott Marsh is an Australian artist who started as a graffiti artist in the streets of Sydney Australia where he developed a reputation as one of the most talented graffiti  of his generation. You can learn more about this acclaimed artist and even purchase his work if you like from his website, scottmarsh.com.au.

Scott or “Scottie” as he goes by on Instagram caught my attention with one of his more political creations from this past week. He was clearly inspired by Anderson Cooper’s description of Donald Trump when he said, “That is the president of the United States. That is the most powerful person in the world. We see him like an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over.”

This week on Instagram: gayblacktravel

This week I’m featuring an Instagram account that encourages black men to share their travel photos. The inability to travel outside of New England due to the coronavirus has been tough and seeing photos like the one shared above from Sao Paulo Pride in Brazil reminds me how much I miss traveling.

Until I can safely travel, I’ll be eyeing this and other travel accounts on Instagram to live vicariously through those images. Check out this account and let me know what you think.

This week on Instagram: beardisthenewsixpack

This week’s Instagram handle says it all. This is an account for people who want to see handsome men with beards. The account is quite popular so many of you may already be following this account but I only recently stumbled upon it this summer and enjoy seeing the posts.

This week on Instagram: jamiemalcolmbrown

Jamie Malcolm Brown is a drone and landscape photographer in Western Mass who takes amazing photos like the one shown above from Amherst, MA. If you like what you see here and on his Instagram account (link provided below), you can order prints.

As you might imagine, this account is filled with spectacular photos. The changing fall colors of New England are eye-popping when shot from his drone and make for a delightful distraction in my Instagram feed.

This week on Instagram: kil.dren

Check out this week’s featured Instagram account of Brazilian lawyer, Kildren Pantoja. Kildren lives in Belem, Brazil which is in the northeast near the mouth of the Amazon River. Years ago when Sergio and I were backpacking through Brazil we had planned to visit but I got food poisoning and we had to cancel those plans but the combination of Kildren’s easy-on-the-eyes Instagram photos with Belem and the surrounding area as his backdrop is making me want to visit. Sadly that will need to wait until this pandemic is under control so until that time I’ll have to look to his posts.
