ImageVeteran’s Day
It is Veteran’s Day in the United States today. This isn’t my favorite holiday because it tends to remind me how often our country has resorted to military use. However, one cannot deny the commitment and courage of the men and women of our military so I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to my Dad and all of the other veterans for their service to our country.

Chris Craves is an undergrad student who emailed me the other day, asking (ever so nicely) if I would to share his brief, anonymous survey on recycling that he created for his undergraduate class with my readers.
I just took the survey and it took me a less than 2 minutes (including the time I took to type an extra bit explaining my opinion). Won’t you help this student out with his survey project about recycling?

Sometimes I feel like Google+ is the stepchild of social media sites, but I like the interface more than Facebook so I jumped at the opportunity when Google asked me if I would like to customize my account.

Summer is ovah
Sad but true, summer is now officially over, although for most of us the summer season ended with Labor Day Weekend. Even still it is always sad to say good bye to summer.

If you happen to live in the United States you are probably excited about the holiday weekend – or maybe I’m just projecting. Although summer technically continues, the season ends with Labor Day this Monday so make the most of the last weekend of summer.

WordPress blogging question
Lately, I’ve noticed that some of my posts seem to get Tweeted and posted on Facebook thanks to the WordPress Share this: feature which you can see at the bottom of this and other posts.
Unfortunately, Google+ appears to be like Rodney Dangerfield (look up the reference millennials). Does anyone know how to add Google+ as a “share option”?
Restaurant Review SD26 in NYC
SD26 at Madison Square Park serves contemporary Italian cuisine in a large, chic restaurant that features a small patio overlooking Madison Square Park, a long wine bar and lounge, as well as a large open dining area. Zagat gave SD26 a rating of 25 for its food and described the space as “glam modernist dining”. Hmm, what the heck does that mean?
While I was dining at SD26 service was flawless. The staff worked together, answering a steady stream of questions about the Italian wines (of which there are very many to choose from on their iPad menu) to suggestions for nearly every course imaginable for our party of seven.
To get to our table we walked by the open formaggeria. Without hesitation we ordered a large plate of Italian meats and cheeses. At $39 each, I appreciated this would be a work dinner picked up by my firm, but I have to admit it was unbelievably delicious. In fact we devoured it so quickly I have no photos 😦
My next plate, an arugula and endive salad dressed with a light lemon dressing for $12, was very refreshing and made for a nice contrast from the Italian meats and cheeses I had over indulged. I opted for the pasta special $26 for my main course; a homemade buccatini pasta with an All’Amatriciana sauce, which was delicious and filling but I wish had a bit more kick. 
While the service and food was delicious, the large dining room is best enjoyed if you can get a table along the wall or better yet in the back corner where we were seated. You gain a better view of the space and are less disrupted by passing staff and patrons. Menu prices for most pasta dishes range in the mid-20s and seafood and meat plates ranging from $32-49. While there are excellent restaurants in NYC at all price ranges for every cuisine imaginable, I would recommend this for enthusiasts of modern Italian cuisine without reservation.

Memorial Day
Let’s hope there will be no more tombstone heads added to this infographic in the years that follow. War is rarely the answer.
Memorial Day
Most Americans have today off in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Fashionistas feel free to break out your white. Cape Cod and the islands are open for the 2013 summer season so enjoy it, because it will pass quickly.
Memorial Day Weekend starts today
The last Monday in May is Memorial Day in the United States. The holiday is meant to remember those who died while serving in the US Armed Forces, but for many the holiday will be spent by the beach or with friends and family.
If you are lucky enough to have Memorial Day as a holiday, I hope you can enjoy the time off and have a fantastic weekend.
