Argentina why do you have so many oddly named shops

ARGENTINA, WHAT’S UP WITH ALL THE ODDLY NAMED STORES?

Each Monday I share a weekly post of events, activities and parties that will happen in Boston, but Sergio and I are on vacation. In lieu of activities happening this week you get to see all the oddly named retail stores I kept coming across (not to mention WiFi passwords), while I was in Argentina.

This week I’m off to Uruguay. I wonder what surprises that country may have? You can follow me on Instagram where I’m sharing pictures and stories about our travels in South America.

Scruffy Sunday

handsome, hairy man in bed

Earlier this year I featured this handsome Minnesotan who now lives in NYC as both a Scruffy Sunday and Furry Friday. You could say that the camera loves Dustin James – a.k.a. DJ (and I suppose the feeling is mutual).

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser: Two mums and 2 daughters went out for Christmas dinner each ate one portion, yet only three portions were eaten in total. How is this possible?

Vintage gay

Wellesley House Party 1940s/Courtesy: The History Project.

The History Project, Boston LGBT archive, shares a glimpse into the lives of five people who lived in a place and time that is at once familiar and alien. If you’re curious about learning more check out Boston Queer History blog post.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

20th annual Santa Speedo Run in Boston

SSR Santa Speedo BostonIt is hard to believe this Speedo run started by friends back in 2000 would grow to be so popular in so many cities around the country but the idea is just the right mix of foolishness and fun. Sergio and I will miss this year’s run up Boylston Street and down Newbury Street but if you’re in town you may want to head over to the Prudential Mall and Hynes Auditorium where hundreds of runners will line-up for the quick (and very brisk) run.

Men in kilts

shirtless man wearing a kilt and showing his butt

I know I’m going to get grief for this because it looks more like a school girl’s skirt than a kilt but this was on one of the pintrest kilt boards and let’s face it – this guy is worth bending a few rules for.

Bringing out the big guns

handsome hunkI’ve brought out the big guns to get your attention!

Each Monday I share a weekly post of events, activities and parties that will happen in Boston, but Sergio and I are on vacation in Argentina and this weekly post is temporarily on hold while we enjoy summer in South America.

My weekly “What’s Happening” and “What’s Happening this Weekend” posts will return in January when we return to Boston. Until then, follow me on Instagram where I’m sharing pictures of our travels in Argentina.

Toys for Joys is this Saturday

T4J, gay boston

Toys for Joys is this Saturday. Get your tickets ASAP.

Although Sergio and I are traveling and not able to attend this year’s event, I wanted to give a shout out for this year’s Toys for Joys celebration, that will take place this Saturday, December 14th at the Artists for Humanity Epicenter in Southie. Unlike most fundraisers, this event is devoid of rubber chicken dinners and long speeches, but organizers do ask that anyone who buys a  ticket also purchase 3 gifts (minimum value $20-$25 per gift) to be donated:

tots (3-mos to 5 yrs)
tweens (6-11 yrs)
teens (12-18yrs)

If your last name begins with A-M you purchase toys for a girl and if your last name begins with N-Z purchase gifts for boys. Gifts should be unwrapped and will be placed under the tree.
