Attendees are encouraged to bring their speedos to compete in a bathing suit contest. Yours truly will pass on the contest but is looking forward to stopping by to rub shoulders with friends and acquaintances.  If you’ve never been to dbar, use this as an opportunity to check out  Dorchester’s only gay bar. The tea dances can get very crowded so arrive early to enjoy all the fun.  The crowd tends to be very friendly, but if you don’t know anyone, look for me and introduce yourself. I always enjoy meeting nice guys.

The dbar “Opening Day” tea dance to benefit The Boston Living Center was held yesterday and judging by the size of the crowd it looks like a lot of money was raised to benefit this very worthwhile local non-profit.

The weather was beautiful, Gay Jim from KISS 108 was on hand to play great music, and everyone seemed to be in a fantastic mood (you would have never guessed Monday was just around the corner).

Here are a few photographs from all the fun yesterday afternoon.  Thank you to all of you who posed and thank you for supporting The Boston Living Center.  To get invitations to future tea dance parties at dbar like their page here

And of course, thanks to Marc and Matt for pulling the event together.

Looking for dinner plans this weekend? Consider checking out dbar.  The Dorchester restaurant and bar has responded to the Chick-Fil-A controversy in a very positive and creative manner.  Best of all, a portion of their proceeds this weekend will go to GLAAD’s Speak Out Against Chick-Fil-A campaign.

4th of July in Provincetown

Last Wednesday was the 4th of July.  My partner and I opted to escape the heat of Boston and spend the week in Provincetown.  Lucky for us (and half of Boston or so it seemed) Brian Piccini – owner of dBar and DeuxAve – hosted a fantastic party at his house in Provincetown, which has a beautiful view of Provincetown Harbor. Listed below are some photos from his Independence Day bash. Thank you to all those who posed for a picture. And thank you Brian for the invite. Brian PicciniBrian PicciniBrian PicciniBrian PicciniBrian Piccini

DotOUT Summer Tea Dance at dbar

dBar Sunday, June 24th was the DotOUT Tea Dance at dBar in Dorchester.  Weather for the 5th Annual Tea Dance could not have been better and that is probably why most everyone who was not dancing spent a good part of the event on dBar’s patio.  Keeping with the Price is Right themed Boston float DotOUT had at Boston Pride, the Tea Dance had many props and games associated with the game show.

“Gay Jim” from KISS 108 FM kept everyone dancing all afternoon

Thank you to everyone who was kind enough to pose for a photo and apologies to any that may not have made this post.    I’d also like to thank dbar and their staff, all the sponsors and DotOUT for pulling together another wonderful Tea Dance.dbardbardbardbardbardbardbardbar
