To balance the rather serious nature of this morning’s post about the rally against hate at the State House (I can’t even put into words how disturbing it is that these calls for action are even necessary), here’s a bit of humor.
I’m sure every gay or lesbian couple reading this has at one time been asked which one of them is the fork. By the way, when I’ve been asked that question in the past my response has been, “fork you”, always said with a smile of course.

Definition: What many gay men shout when they are very happy.
Example: If you are gay, you likely just uttered, “YAAAAAS” when you saw the photograph above, making the need to provide an example this week pointless.

Kiki (\ˈkē-kē\noun and verb)
Definition: A party including good music and good friends that may involve salacious gossip.
Example: (noun) I need to let loose tonight, I’m hosting a kiki.
(verb) I need to let loose tonight, let’s kiki.
Towleroad via World of Wonder blog, brought to my attention the disgraced former U.S. Republican Congressman, Aaron Schock, was seen at the West Hollywood Halloween parade. While his presence doesn’t confirm Schock is a Friend of Dorothy, it does nothing to quell those rumors. Schock who rose to prominence in the Republican Party in part due to his youth and good looks, never was a friend of the gay community and proved to be hostile to any legislation that would help protect our community from discrimination.
The Congressman ultimately resigned in March 2015 to avoid a congressional ethics inquiry after misappropriation of funds on everything from airplane flights to his office decor was reported. As recently as last month, Schock agreed to pay a $10,000 civil penalty to the Federal Election Commission, but he has otherwise avoided any other fines or sentencing.
Earlier this year Titan Men released a gay porn parody titled, “Cauke for President” based on Schock. The film centered around a homophobic US Senator named Mike Cauke. Twitter and Instagram social media posts for Mike Cauke repeatedly called out Shock (see below).
I know that BuzzFeed has rebranded the company as a news organization, but I still think of them as the king of endless top ten lists and mindless, unscientific surveys like this one which they posted last Monday.
For the record, I was pegged as 66% Top and 34% Bottom – no comment on the accuracy of the survey. Curious to see how you stack up? You can take the online quiz – it takes just a few minutes time.

Definition: Refers to male genitalia (penis and scrotum together), often associated with large size. Also commonly referred to as “basket”.
Example: I could distinctly see a VPL on that guy’s package when he walked by.
Fashionista (\ˌfa-shə-ˈnēs-tə\noun)
Definition: A person devoted to fashion clothing, particularily unique or high fashion.
Example: Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw on Sex in the City epitomized the term fashionista and it is one reason so many gay men loved her.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a new report from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds that rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis have increased for a second year in a row to all-time highs, and unfortunately, gay and bisexual men make up the majority of syphilis cases.
While STDs are preventable with safer sex measures and generally curable with antibiotics, the most alarming piece of news may be that the CDC says that antibiotic resistant STDs are becoming more prevalent.

Hankie Code (\ˈhaŋ-kē – ˈkōd\noun)
Definition: Wearing a colored hanky to identify sexual preferences within leather, or BDSM community.
Example: The Hankie Code was used by many gay men in the 1970s and 1980s to identify sexual preferences
Leather Daddy (\ˈle-thər -ˈda-dē\ noun)
Definition: A leather daddy is another word for a man who tends to dominate and has a fetish for leather.
Example: George Cluny would make for an ideal leather daddy.
