2013 GLBT Fall fundraisers

The spring and fall are when the majority of large scale formal fundraisers take place throughout the US and Boston is no exception.  The following are some of the largest and most fun GLBT fundraisers in Boston.  Feel free to share in the comments section below any charitable events I may have missed that you would like to share.

AIDS Action CommitteeLove Art. Fight AIDS

ARTcetera may be my all-time favorite GLBT fundraiser in Boston. This event draws art lovers and enthusiasts as well as many artists who donate their work for auction to raise money for the AIDS Action Committee of MA. The event is hosted every other year but it went dark for a couple of years while AIDS Action rethought the event and in 2011 ARTcetera was relaunched.  More details here:  ARTcetera 2013 – Saturday, October 5th

GLADThis event raises money for GLAD; not to be confused with GLAAD.  The Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders have been fighting for and advancing GLBT civil liberties since it was founded in the late 1970s. This year’s recipient of GLAD’s Spirit of Justice award will be Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall.  The sitting Chief Justice who presided over the landmark Goodridge decision that was the first to rule (10 years ago) same sex marriage was legal and must be recognized.  More details here:  GLAD Spirit of Justice – Friday, October 25th

HRC Dinner BannerOne of the GLBT’s largest fundraisers in Boston each year is the HRC dinner gala, this year hosted on Saturday, November 9th.   At the moment, the website for this event is still a bit bare so if you have questions about the program, I’d encourage you to email dinner@hrcboston.org.   More details here:  HRC New England Dinner – Saturday, November 9th

Suddenly it makes sense

wrestlingEarlier this week Joe. My. God. blog noted that wrestling will be reinstated for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.  Pity this won’t be at Sochi if for no other reason than I’d like to see a bunch of homphobic, sexually repressed Russians cheering on their guy as he simulates gay sex wrestles.

Gay Christian Mingle spoof

Gay Christian Mingle spoofThis Gay Christian Mingle spoof is making the rounds on the web and I couldn’t resist hopping on the bandwagon and sharing this too. I love Chad’s profile that says, “Love the three G’s – God, Glamour and Gals!”  Watch this humorous clip and don’t worry, it is totally safe for viewing while at work.

Harbor to the Bingo at Club Cafe on Monday

Harbor To The Bay BingoNo plans tomorrow night?  Head over to Club Cafe for the Bingo fundraiser for the Harbor to the Bay Ride from 7:30 – 11:30 PM.  There is a suggested donation of $10, but I’m sure Trampolina would be happy to accept a few Jacksons on behalf of the local charity.

snugglingSeems like a very pleasant way to pass a Sunday morning. Stay in bed and relax.  It is crazy here in Boston because so many renters in this city have September 1 apartment leases.

Time to do the laundry

Sexy GuyWhat to do when you have no towels? I suppose its time to do laundry.

Gay ol’ Philadelphia

Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) Last week The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Corp shared their second commercial targeting the LGBT community to celebrate their 10th anniversary of their award-winning campaign, “Philadelphia Get Your History Straight and Your Nightlife Gay”

The humorous video features the ever so popular, Miss Richfield 1981 taking selfie’s in places of interest in Philadelphia.  I’d love to see Boston create something like this to welcome LGBT travelers.
