FOXY moves to Ramrod

Gay Nightlife BostonIt has been a while since I’ve written about FOXY night, which started in Cambridge on select Sunday nights at clubs in Central Square. The handsome DJs behind these fun evenings recently announced that FOXY is not only changing venues but also changing nights.

FOXY is now on the 1st Saturday at Ramrod Boston

Nathaniel Bluhm and Joseph ColbourneDJs Nathaniel Bluhm and Joseph Colbourne will be playing a heavy rotation of soul music when FOXY night moves to Ramrod this Saturday night.  According to the invite on Facebook, you can expect natural, friendly men in  T-shirts and tight blue jeans. Sounds tempting and a great alternative worth checking out.

Like the FOXY Action Group on Facebook for more information.

Boston rally to support marriage equality in France

Marriage EqualityA rally in Boston outside the Consulate General of France will take place at 1pm to show support for equal marriage rights for same sex couples in France.  Rallies are being duplicated in other cities around the world including Buenos Aires, Rome, and Montréal to show support for a massive rally in Paris to show support for marriage equality.

Boston’s Marriage Equality Rally takes place outside the Consulate General of France in Boston at 31 St. James Ave from 1-2PM today.

Boston Pride released this statement explaining why they would hold a rally here  in Boston, “The French government and parliament are currently working on a Marriage Equality bill which will allow LGBT couples the right to marry and adopt children. While anti-equality forces have shown great determination and have chosen to adopt a retrograde and homophobic discourse, marriage equality proponents will rally everywhere in France this Sunday, in support of the continuation of the French legislative work so that all couples may be granted the same rights: marriage, adoption, recognition of bi-national filiation etc… French expatriates around the world are expected to organize rallies as well.”

For more information, visit BostonPride.org. Kudos to Boston Pride for stepping up and helping to raise awareness and organizing this rally today.

Something to keep you warm

Handsome GuyThe brutal cold temperatures in the northeast have put a permanent scowl on many faces around here.  I can’t really blame my neighbors but hopefully this will help get your circulation moving and warm you up a bit.

Kudos to fellow blogger, Damien, at 2 Cents Worth Down Under who alerted me to the post and whom I swiped this image from.  FYI – on Friday’s Damien has a more naughty version of my Furry Friday photos, which some of you may enjoy.

Jesse JackmanI’ve been friendly with Jesse for more than a decade and can tell you that he’s as sweet on the inside as he is sexy on the outside.  This photo looks like it was taken at Body Body in Ptown. May the image warm you, despite the freezing temperatures here in the northeast.

Suddenly it makes sense

Beach VolleyballIt is so cold here in Boston I completely forgot about the appeal of beach volleyball. Sure, it sounds dumb; risk getting clobbered by a ball or possibly  wind up with sand in your mouth as you dive out of the way to avoid getting clobbered. However, this serene image reminds me that there are other aspects to the sport which deserve a second (and third) look.

Bearz Tea Dance at Club Cafe

Mass Bearz Tea Dance On Sunday I went to the Mass Bearz Tea Dance at Club Cafe, which is held the third Sunday of every month. I didn’t know quite what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by how many people were there.  DJ Harrison Carmichael’s blend of disco and pop classics helped me forget it was a Sunday evening.

The next Mass Bearz Tea Dance at Club Cafe will be on Sunday, February 17th so mark your calendars if you’d like to check this out and head over with a group of friends. I’ve included some photos from yesterday’s tea dance. If you click on the photos the pictures will enlarge.

US municipal equality index

US Metropolitan Equality MapLate last year, the Human Rights Committee (HRC) in partnership with the Equality Federation Institute and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, released their 2012 Municipal Equality Index.

The PDF which is easy to read online or download scored 137 cities in the United  States on a multitude of criteria that were combined into six categories.  Eleven cities from seven states achieved a perfect “100” ranking including: Boston and Cambridge, MA – Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, CA – St. Louis, MO – New York City, NY – Portland, OR – Philadelphia, PA – and Seattle, WA.  I’m always circumspect of publications that rank / rate anything and you should be too, but I still find them quite interesting.  You can view the index rankings and read more about this here.

For many it is a long holiday weekend (sadly not for me) so I’m hoping that there will be a fun crowd that will help me forget that I have to head back to work the next day.

Bearz Tea Dance at Club Cafe starts at 5PM – and has no cover charge.
