What an adorable photo of these two out in their backyard. I haven’t a clue when this may have been photographed. I’m hoping their clothes, hairstyles, and the bit of their car which you can see in the lower left part of the photograph can help date this photo. When do you think these two were photographed?

Global map of hairy, furry, fuzzy (whatever you want to call it) men

Those of you who follow this blog know about my fixation appreciation for men with chest hair so I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw this map posted on the Twitter account (sorry guys, it’ll always be Twitter to me) Terrible Maps.

For those of you planning trips in the coming months, you may want to refer to this map for guidance on your preferred destinations. Below I’ve included some visual incentives because I know what brings most of you to this blog. 😉

Remembering 9/11

911 Memorial

This day continues to be a somber one for me and many I know. At the start of each September, I inevitably think about my friend, Graham, who was flying to California on United Flight 175 to attend a work meeting. I also remember and feel for the colleagues and friends of Sergio’s who were on that flight because at that time Sergio was a United Airlines flight attendant based out of Boston.

There is not much I can say all these years later that has not already been said, but for those families and friends who lost loved ones on the hijacked flights, for those who were injured and traumatized, and for all those first responders and citizens who were hurt or died aiding in the recovery following that terrible day, this post is for you.

Gold Dust Orphans announce holiday show

The Rocky Menorah Holiday Show at the Iron Wolf Theater Nov 30 – Dec 23, 2023

Ryan Landry and the Gold Dust Orphans have announced that this year’s holiday show will be The Rocky Menorah Christmas Show. The show will open on Thursday, November 30th, and run through Saturday, December 23rd at the Iron Wolf Theater on Broadway in Southie.

The Rocky Menorah Christmas Story is a parody of the cult classic, “ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW”, Ryan and his cast take these belovedly twisted characters and reimagine them in the North Pole! “Frank-N-Furter” becomes “Mrs. Grinchley” – “Brad and Janet “turn into elves, “Eddie” morphs into a red-nosed reindeer, and “Dr. Scott” becomes … You guessed it! Santa Claus! Even Margery Taylor Green shows up to try and ruin the holiday by blaming everything on the Jews!

Tickets are now on sale, starting at $65 (incl. handling/service fees) for general admission.

A new nonstop flight between Boston and Porto, Portugal starts June 2024

Porto, Portugal

Bostonians contemplating a trip to Europe next summer will have another nonstop destination to consider, starting June 2024. Nonstop flights from Boston to Lisbon are already available on TAP and Delta Airlines, but Azores Airlines will begin offering nonstop flights from Boston to Porto, offering travelers a second nonstop destination in Portugal.

When we flew to Portugal in 2016 we opted to start our trip in the North in Porto and the above photo is of us (exhausted but excited) after flying all night, boarding the short flight from Lisbon to Porto. How I would have loved to have the option of a nonstop flight to Porto when we planned this trip!

Porto Portugal, Torre dos Clérigos

Sergio and I visited Porto back in 2016. I shared our thoughts (and a few photos) about our visit, here. Above is a picture of Sergio in front of Porto’s, Torre dos Clérigos at an outdoor lounge called Base which we enjoyed visiting each evening for a drink before heading out for dinner.

Are they friends or more? I’m guessing this was taken in the 1980s based on hairstyles and what looks like mid-80s Gap clothing. When do you think these two handsome men were photographed?

Swim for Life is this weekend

Provincetown Swim for Life is Saturday, September 9th

The Provincetown Swim for Life is a 1.2 mile swim along the shallow East End shoreline. The annual charity swim raises money for organizations like the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. Due to concerns about shark sightings in recent years, the route was modified to the shallow end of the shoreline and no longer has swimmers crossing the harbor, which makes it easier for spectators to cheer on swimmers.

If you’re looking to get out of town for the weekend, consider heading out to Provincetown to cheer on the swimmers and enjoy the post-race celebrations.
