Vintage gay

Anyone care to guess when or where these two men were photographed? They look like extras from the classic movie The Sting, which was set in the 1930s. If curious, I found this picture on the homoaffectualism Tumblr page.

Barbie Beach Party – July 29

C’MON BARBIE LET’S GO PARTY

Boston’s Men of Melanin Magic are bringing Barbiemania to M Street Beach with a takeover of Kiki Beach on Saturday, July 29. For those unfamiliar with where to go on M Street Beach, the pink bathing suits should be a good clue, but I’ve also included directions on where the Kiki takes place.

✨👙 WEAR PINK👙 ✨

Help the Men of Melanin Magic figure out how many Barbies plan to come to this week’s beach party by RSVP’ing below (it’s free).

How to find Kiki Beach on M Street Beach

If you’re unfamiliar with Kiki Beach, or if it has been a while since you’ve last gone, check out the image below. It shows where you’re likely to find your fellow LGBTQ+ friends at M Street Beach. Most guys set up between the first and second bus shelter (walking away from the L Street Bath House).

Also if you need a place to change or to use public restrooms, the L Street Bath House is open after an extensive renovation.

Please share a caption of your own for this week’s photograph. Hopefully, the caption I’ve shared below will inspire you to leave a funny caption in the comment section. If you don’t see it immediately don’t worry, I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.

Boston LGBTQ+ library in the works

Axios reported last week that Boston could soon get its first nonprofit library created by and for LGBTQ+ locals. This is great news and one that bucks a national trend where almost every week one can find a story in the news about LGBTQ+ books being banned or libraries (and librarians) coming under fire for hosting LGBTQ+ events.

QT Library aims to create a space for all ages to enjoy books, art, LGBTQ+ culture, and contributions. To date, more than 75 volunteers have joined QT’s core eight-person team to help launch the library and while an exact location for their brick-and-mortar library is still in the making, they hope to find a space that is within the city limits that will open in the summer of 2024.

If you would like to support this initiative, you can join their Kickstarter campaign. They have already exceeded their first-round goal to raise more than $50,000 by July 31, 2023, but they could still use your support.

You can follow their progress and learn more about the organization by visiting their website, QT Library.

Make plans with friends for a fun night out in November and purchase your tickets before this sells out.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brain

Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together. Leave your guess in the comment section.

This week’s riddle: I appear infrequently in summer, twice as often in autumn, and never in the spring or winter. What am I?

I’ll approve responses later in the day to allow people to respond without seeing any spoilers.

Like riddles? Check out past week’s brain teasers.
