Bonus Fur

Furry Friday, handsome, hunk, gaySince the Hedwig video below has been surreptitiously removed due to something as irksome as CBS copyright, I’ve opted to compensate you with another Bonus Fur post. Hopefully this will also amp you up for the weekend.

Much thanks to Twitter bud, Rob A.K.A. @Tardis66, for sharing this photo the other day.  With Boston Pride heading into its final weekend I feel like there is a good chance I’ll see more than a few men in harnesses.

Neil Patrick Harris as Hedwig at Tonys 2014

If you missed the Tonys this past Sunday, you missed a great show. Neil Patrick Harris as Hedwig singing ‘Sugar Daddy’ just might have been my absolute favorite moment.  Check out the clip.

Furry Friday

handsome, hunk, gayNormally I’m not a fan of selfies but I can make exceptions. Especially when the guy taking one is exceptional. What do you think?

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaser, rodinEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.  If you are stumped, feel free to get help or share it with a friend or colleague to see if you can figure it out together.

I’ll confirm answers later in the day so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance.

This weeks riddle:

Until I am measured I am not known,
Yet how you miss me when I have flown.

What am I?

OUT at Fenway

Red Sox Pride NightGuess where I am tonight?  Pity this isn’t the 2013 Red Sox but I’m hopeful the Red Sox offense will show up tonight. If you are at Fenway, say hello. I’m in the section that gets up and dances at every possible opportunity; at least that is how it worked last year.

Heels for Hope

BAGLYEach year there is that one party or event that exceeds expectations and floods Facebook with photos.  For Boston Pride 2014, I think that event was Heels for Hope. When Michael Labrecque and his friends approached BoMA to host a party that involved high heels and helping Boston Alliance for Gay and Lesbian Youth (BAGLY) none of them realized how many guys would show up. Kudos to the group for raising $2,800 for BAGLY and for hosting what turned out to be one of my favorite parties of the year. Below I’ve included some of the photos from all the fun.

World Cup Brazil

Sexy, Brazilian, Hunk While the entire world fixates on Brazil for the next few weeks to watch World Cup, America will barely take note. Perhaps this photo of this handsome Brazilian might get your attention.  Hexa Campeao!

Boston Pride guide: Weekend edition

Boston PrideLast week I wrote a post about all the programs and events that have caught my eye for Boston Pride 2014.  With Pride celebrations final weekend nearly upon us, I thought I’d share some of the events / programs that get a thumbs up from me.

Red Sox FanThursday, June 12th:  Pride Night at Fenway Park or Cathedral Station Grand Opening

If you have not purchased tickets for Pride Night at Fenway Park a great Plan B is to swing by Cathedral Station (formerly Red Fez) on their opening night. This is Boston’s newest gay sports bar. Cathedral Station has free parking, affordable drinks and a game room with plenty of TVs to cheer on the Red Sox.

Fur and GoldFriday, June 13th: Fur & Gold Pride Edition at The Alley

I’ll confess I’m not a dancer so I’m not sure if I’ll attend but this can be a fun party with good music, affordable drinks and no attitude.  This is not an official Pride event so for details check out the Fur and Gold Facebook Page.

Friday, June dBar Stoplight Parrty13th: Stoplight Party at dBar in Dorchester

If Fur & Gold isn’t your scene, dBar will be full of twinks & 20-somethings.  Party Details Here

Chandler Street Block PartySaturday, June 14th:  Boston Pride Parade, Chandler Street Block Party and House of Blues Main Event with DJ Abel

The Boston Pride parade starts one hour earlier this year at 11AM and is free and open to the public.  Check out the annual Chandler Street Block Party from 1:30 – 7 PM ($15 – proceeds go to The AIDS Action).

House of Blues Boston Pride 2014

Saturday, June 14th:  House of Blues: Epic Saturday w/ DJ Abel and Paradise Pride Bash

Should you have the energy, the largest party in town will be at Boston’s House of Blues, where DJ Abel will whip everyone into a frenzy or if HOB isn’t your scene but you want to dance check out Paradise in Cambridge but get there early because the line to get into both places will be ridiculous.

gay pride boston, back bay block partySunday, June 15th: Back Bay Block Party 12PM – 8PM

This is possibly the best block party Boston hosts all year and is worth attending. Enter on the corner of Stuart and Berkeley Street. A $15 donation is requested with all proceeds going to the Boston Pride Committee.

Boston Pride Retrospective featured on Boston.com

Steven BaumbachLocal photographer, Stephen Baumbach, hosted his one-night Boston Pride Retrospective at Back Bay Harry’s last night.  I wanted to thank Stephen for his hard work and sharing the images as well as Boston Pride and Back Bay Harry’s (with special thanks to Harry Collings) for helping to make this happen on such short notice.

Boston.com was on hand to photograph the event featured it today on their website.  You can check out the photos from last night’s show on Boston.com, here.

This was my favorite photograph from the show.

Cathedral Station opens tomorrow

Baseball, hunkCathedral Station opens tomorrow night starting at 7PM on Thursday. I’ll be cheering on the Red Sox at the Boston Pride event Out at Fenway.

If you are not going to be at Fenway Park tomorrow, check out the South End’s newest bar and Boston’s latest Gay Bar to open.

Cathedral Station is at 1222 Washington Street in the South End and has free parking in the back.

Don’t miss Heels for Hope at BoMA Restaurant and Bar at 1415 Washington St. tonight.  So grab some pumps (mental note I need to get to Boomerang’s South End to get some shoes),  and come down to BoMA with friends for a fun evening.  More details about Boston’s first annual Heels for Hope can be found on their Facebook page, here.

Wambura Mitaru performs in Back Bay tomorrow

Wambura Berklee
Wednesday, June 11 at 6:00 p.m.
Boston Public Library
700 Boylston Street, Boston  (view map)

Do you like soul, R&B and jazz?  You might want to check out Wambura Mitaru, a young and passionate singer and song writer from Nairobi, Kenya who attends Berklee College of Music. She has a beautiful voice and will be performing for free Wednesday evening.  Stop by and check out this brilliant singer / song writer then go grab a drink with friends in the Back Bay.

Postmodern Jukebox covers No Diggity

I’ve been regularly featuring Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox clips because I love how he reworks modern songs into popular styles from past decades.

Check out their latest, a cover of No Diggity with Ariana Savalas singing the 90s Blackstreet song  much like Jessica Rabbit might have at the  Patty Cake Lounge.

Tell me what you think. I actually prefer this to the original.

Say it with a condom

Unicorns are gay horsesI don’t often get merchandise mailed to me but earlier this week, Say it with a condom, sent me a batch of their Pride campaign condoms.  Each condom comes with a message; some more sobering than others, but mostly all quite funny like this one that explains unicorns are just gay horses.

You can order a few of each or as many of one message as you like from their website and 25% of all the profits form their sale will be donated to non-profit organizations that help promote LGBT equality and awareness.
