Men in kilts
These guys certainly look like they are a lot of fun and are enjoying wearing their kilts. The photo looks familiar so my apologies if this has been previously posted.

Massachusetts continues to be a leader in public education: Why I think that matters
In an age where many feel like access to a quality education is only available to the wealthiest it isn’t really surpirsing that many have developed a distrust of our education system. Over the past 20 years we’ve seen this distrust extend to people who are highly educated and articulate. So perhaps I’m bucking the trend here bragging about Massachusetts recent rankings in US News & World Report of the best high schools in the nation; half of Massachusetts’ high schools are in the top quarter of the national rankings — the highest proportion of any state.
I recognize that there are significant disparities in Massachusetts public education system; those raised in affluent communities absolutely have advantages children in poorer communities do not. However, regardless of party affiliation in this state, there is a genuine commitment to investing in education and it is that consensus that I think helps drives Massachusetts ranking year after year. It is my hope that the “war on education” in our politics and society will stop. Bravo Massachusetts on continuing to excel and your commitment to public education. There is definitely room to improve and addressing inequality in our system ranks fairly high on that list, but kudos for being a leader here.

In a Paris state of mind
Ten years ago today Sergio and I were in Paris. He had surprised me earlier in the year with tickets to Paris for my birthday which is actually tomorrow. This year to celebrate we had planned a long weekend by the beach but that obviously will not happen.
So this year I find myself reflecting not only upon the past year but also this wonderful birthday, ten years ago, that took me to one of my favorite cities in the world. Since Sergio and I cannot celebrate by sipping drinks somewhere warm and tropical, I thoought I’d share photos from this birthday celebration from the past. The memories still bring me so much happiness.
Vintage gay
Earlier this month, The Closet Professor’s “Moment of Zen” post included a number of photos from the past. This was one of a handful that he has shared. You can see all the photos, here.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Boston AIDS Walk & Run postponed
AIDS Action Committee announced via email earlier today that their annual fundraiser and awareness building event, The AIDS Walk & Run has been postponed – although no rescheduling date was shared. Initially scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2020, concerns about public health related to the coronavirus were cited as the reason for the cancellation.
Even though The Walk has been postponed, AIDS Action is asking you to join them on Tuesday, May 5 for #GivingTuesdayNow and asks supporters to virtually continue their AIDS Walk fundraising efforts. Anyone who makes a donation on Tuesday, May 5th will have their transaction fees waived.

This week on Instagram: blu.fit.dad
This week’s account is relatively new, having started in December 2019. The account shows photos of this 40-something, handsome Dad of 5 in a variety of poses. Despite the repetitive nature, I find the account very inspiring as a contemporary who would like to get into better shape.
