Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.
I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.
This week’s brain teaser: Paul’s height is six feet, he’s an assistant at a butcher’s shop, and wears size 9 shoes. What does he weigh?
It’s been a week. Between passing such a depressing milestone of more than 100,000 deaths from the coronavirus; watching the cruel and brutal murder of a black man cry for his mother while a police officer chokes him to death; week long protests and rioting in response; and finally a President blatantly sowing seeds of hate and division — it is hard to imagine smiling let alone laugh, but that is what Ms. Varla Jean Merman has planned for you this Friday.
Varla plans to “clean out her drawers”, sharing her classic video shorts – including a few hilarious misfires. She will also be joined with her very special guest, Ms. Coco Peru. Best of all, it is free to attend, but one must register. Varla will send you an email, along with a text, at 2pm ET on Friday with a link to watch the show.
The photo was shared with me by a Peter Miller who often shares really cool photos like this one for my weekly vintage gay post. According to Peter’s research this is a trimmed down cabinet card dating back to the 1880s / 1890s depicting a drag queen (likely named Mark Smith). The photo appears to have been taken at Baker’s Art Gallery, located att 106 S. High Street, Columbus, OH at that time.
Much thanks Peter for this amazing find. If you have photos you think would make for a great vintage gay post, please do share them by emailing me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price.
You may already be following Fran Alvarado who has 200K+ followers and who’s Instagram account I featured in early February. I wanted to share it again because little did he or any of us know how much we would come to rely on the help of Fran and healthcare professionals the world over. This distractingly cute Family doctor from Madrid would contract COVID-19 just weeks after I featured his account. In the weeks that followed, Spain and Madrid in particular would become a flashpoint (second only to Northern Italy). Fortunately he made a complete recovery.
It’s nice to know that there is more to this guy than just his good looks. I’ve always had the utmost respect for those ino healthcare but more now than ever. If you check out Fran’s account you’ll see a number of photos of him in his scrubs as well as many videos (unfortunately I haven’t a clue what he is saying but I can assure you that doesn’t deter me from watching them). Adding this account to your feed will amp up the cute factor significantly.
Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up a caption or two of your own. Leave a witty or funny caption as a comment for this post, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.
