This photo comes from an article from Queerty a few years ago entitled, Relive New York City’s hottest gay beach with these recently discovered photos from the ’60s.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Nigella Lucy Lawson is an English food writer and cooking show host who I’ve enjoyed watching on television for years. She is the kind of person who people tend to either adore or abhor – I fall into the former rather than the latter category and thought that since the holiday season is now in full swing it made sense to showcase an accomplished cook who’s images are all professionally produced and will be sure to entertain and entice.
Below is a photo from a shoot Nigella did last Christmas. One can expect some delicious photos this holiday season so only follow if you can handle temptation.

Welcome to the South End’s newest coffee shop, Mod Espresso, by stopping by and sampling some of their delicious La Colombe coffee. It is a personal favorite.
The chic cafe sits inside the Modern Relik home design showroom located at 485 Harrison Avenue. The European-style coffee bar, was developed by Michela Larson who locals may remember opened the very popular (and still missed) Italian restaurant, Rocca, in the South End.
In addition to serving excellent coffee, Mod Espresso has a limited menu that includes sweets like cookies, cakes and pastry as well as some savory bites you can grab for lunch or snacks. The cafe will be expanding their hours in the weeks that follow but is currently open 7-days a week. Check out some photos of this chic new coffee shop on Harrison Avenue, courtesy of the Mod Espresso Cafe.

Benvenuti nel quartiere!

While traveling, my weekly posts about “What’s Happening” and “What to do this weekend” will be temporarily suspended until the New Year.
While traveling I plan to regularly post on Instagram so if you don’t already follow me, please do. Through my posts on Instagram you can join us as we visit Mendoza, Cordoba and Buenos Aires in Argentina, Colonia del Sacramento and Puente del Este in Uruguay and finally Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo Brazil.

AIDS Action Taste of the South End
Tuesday, March 24, 2020
Boston Center for the Arts, 6:00 – 9:00 PM
The Taste of the South End is offering an early bird / holiday special, starting today and running through December 31st, selling VIP tickets for $150. Starting in January VIP tickets, which include the early entrance will cost $200 each.
Consider this your contribution to New England’s largest AIDS Service Organization on World AIDS Day
Sergio and I started attending this event nearly 20 years ago when I worked at AIDS Action and it is one of my favorite charity events to attend. For one night in March, AIDS Action brings together 40+ South End restaurants for a delicious evening of bite-sized servings, live cooking demonstrations, a great silent auction, as well as wine tastings and beer sampling.
Tickets for all levels are on sale now. For more information visit tasteofthesouthend.org.

This week I’m sharing a photograph of Stephen (one half of Instagrm’s @renovationhusbands). Who knows what Stephen is contemplating over his morning cup of coffee. Perhaps he’s watching his husband, David, outside tending to his beehive? Check out more about Stephen and his husband via IG.
