This week on Instagram: gaypopbuzz

handsome, hunkThis is the Instagram account of a gay blog I like to read periodically which has  penchant for posting photos like the one above so it isn’t exactly a deep account if you get my drift but it is definitely going to liven up your feed if you’re looking for some pg-13 posts to add to your feed.

My only knock on the account is that it lacks any kind of diversity (race, body, etc…) but considering a lot of their photos have worked their way into some of my weekly mancandy blog posts I probably shouldn’t throw too many stones.

Boston’s FLAG flag football

sports, sports humor, football, gayEach Tuesday I feature a different LGBTQ club or organization to help connect gay men living in the Boston area. One such group you may not know about is the oddly named, FLAG flag football.

This recreational football club plays on Saturday mornings and welcomes everyone regardless of your skill level. The league continues to grow and has more than 24 teams and 300 participants. Aside from playing flag football the organization is very social, hosting informal parties, meeting at local bars and volunteering their time. Some of the guys have also enjoyed making videos which I’ve happily shared here on my blog –  like this one from several years back.

If you’re interested, note that spring registration is next Monday, on March 12. For more information visit their website at flagflagfootball.com, reach out to them on their Facebook page or email, registration@flagflagfootball.com.

I want to feature the LGBTQ groups and organizations that help people connect and enrich Boston’s gay life. If you’d like to have your club / team featured, please email me at bosguymail@gmail.com or via FB messenger.

Cher performs at Sydney’s 40th Mardi Gras

This year Cher joined the celebration in Sydney for the 40th Anniversary Mardi Gras celebration. For those of us who couldn’t be in Sydney, I’ve snagged this video from YouTube. Congratulations to everyone who attended Mardi Gras this year. It was the first celebration to take place after their historic vote to bring marriage equality to their LGBTQ citizens. Goodonya!

Boston Ballet presents Parts In Suite

The Boston Ballet returns with their latest production Parts In Suite, later this week; opening night is on Friday, March 9th at the Boston Opera House.

This ballet is a collection of works by three of today’s most prolific choreographers: William Forsythe, Justin Peck, and Jorma Elo. The program opens with Elo’s Bach Cello Suites, followed by In Creases, which marks the Company’s debut in a work by New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck. The program concludes with the second year of a five-year partnership with Forsythe, when the Boston Ballet presents the Company premiere of his Pas/Parts 2016.

Parts In Suite runs March 9–April 7
Click here for more information and to get your tickets today

I love it when the Boston Ballet shares a collection of works by different choreographers. It provides a glimpse at often very different styles. Last year’s Forsythe production really blew my mind so Sergio and I will be very curious to see his ballet, but it was NYC Ballet Resident Choreopgrapher, Justin Peck, who makes his debut here in Boston that caught my attention. Check out his video below where he describes his creative process for choreographing dance.

I’ve compiled a list of LGBTQ events that will take place that you may want to consider attending or supporting. If I’ve overlooked an event / fundraiser, leave a comment in the post, and I’ll do my best to update this list.
