The Boston Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

gay bostonEach Tuesday I’m featuring a different LGBTQ club or organization to help connect gay men living in the Boston area. One such group I’ve wanted to feature since I started this weekly post is The Boston Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This group is one of Boston’s more unique and visible LGBTQ groups. The group freely gives of their time to virtually every LGBTQ organization and event you can imagine throughout New England.

The Boston Sisters are a House of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc, which was originally founded in San Francisco nearly forty years ago and now includes more than 2,000 Sisters worldwide. The Boston chapter was founded a little more recently in 2009 and they have definitely been a welcome addition to our community. I love seeing the Sisters out in public and anyone interested in learning more about the good work they do as well as the more social component of their convent, I’d recommend you reach out to them.  They are lovely – every single one of these sisters. For more information about this fabulous group of gals, check them out online at thebostonsisters.org.

I want to feature the LGBTQ groups and organizations that help people connect and enrich Boston’s gay life. If you’d like to have your club / team featured, please email me at bosguymail@gmail.com or via FB messenger.

Mass Bears and Cubs

Mass Bears and Cubs is a social group here in Boston who arrange social meetings and parties.  Recently they have posted on Facebook that they are looking for volunteers who would be willing to give four to eight hours of their time each month to help with organizing and hosting their charity and social events.  If you would like to learn more about the organization, I’d recommend you email them at MassBearsAndCubs@gmail.com or contact them through their Facebook page, Mass Bears and Cubs.

Sister Sorel’s last dance Sunday funday

gay boston, andy husbands, tremont 647In February news broke that chef Andy Husbands would close Tremont 647 and Sister Sorel at the end of March. The longtime neighborhood bars will be replaced by a Japanese bistro from Boston chef Tim Maslow (a business partner of Husbands).

To celebrate the legacy and great memories these neighborhood bar and restaurant have created over the past 20 years, Sister Sorel is hosting their final  Sunday Funday. This will get pretty busy so show up early so you can squeeze into the bar.

Boston Gay Men’s Movie Group is going to see Love, Simon on Sunday

gay film, lgbtq filmThe Boston Gay Men’s Movie Group (a friendly Meetup group) is planning to go see Love, Simon at the AMC Movie Theater on the Boston Common on Sunday morning. If you’d like to join them to watch the movie, you need to RSVP for details on where and when they will be meeting before heading into the theater.

Love, Simon has been getting rave reviews. It has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been referred to as this generation’s Breakfast Club (high praise indeed) and is being dubbed the first gay-themed RomCom.

Boston Gay Men’s Movie Group

About Love, Simon: Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.
