Since so many of you told me how much you liked my blog post last week, Justin and Nick on Instagram, I thought it only made sense to share one of their Instagram for this week’s Scruffy Sunday.
Confessions of a Boy Toy recently shared a blog post recently entitled, Meet Justin & Nick: Instagram’s Sexiest Gay Couple. For about six months I have been one of the more than 170,000 people who follow their joint account on Instagram and without fail each of their posts bring a smile to my face.
As you can probably tell from the photo above and a few more below, these guys are easier on the eyes than sun glasses on a bright summer day. If you are not already, you too can follow this handsome Pittsburgh couple via Instagram at @justnick_pgh.
Many cities in the south east and the rust belt regions of the US seem to have a higher rate of STD infections according to data compiled by the CDC. Their report also found that there is a “troubling rise in syphilis infections among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM)”.
I thought I would share this news for two reasons: first, I’m a firm believer that if you are not having safe sex then you should get tested; second I worry that with so many gay men now on Truvada there is more risky sexual behavior and while Truvada may reduce the risk of HIV infections it won’t protect against STDs.

Today is my first day back in the office after spending a wonderfully long weekend with friends in Provincetown. Point is I’m not feeling all that inspired so I thought I’d go with a man candy post to buy me some time.
I hope you are having an easier time adjusting back to the work week than I am.
Bummed that Bear Week is over or maybe that you missed it and would like to visit Provincetown for Bear Week next year? Check out this great video that is making the rounds from David Cox. It is really well done.
Earlier this spring I wrote the post, Gay themed summer movies, which talked about the documentary Do I sound gay? Today David Thorpe’s documentary opened in 14 new cities including Boston, Chicago, Portand, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle & Washington, DC; previously you could only see this film in Atlanta, Los Angeles, NYC and Philadelphia.
Meet writer/director David Thorpe in person today & tomorrow, July 24 & 25 for Q&As after the 7:05pm shows and to introduce the 9:45pm shows! Tickets here.
The documentary confronts Thorpe’s anxiety over sounding “gay” by talking to LGBT icons like Dan Savage and George Takei, and exploring the cultural history of the gay voice in film and television. You can get your tickets to see Do I sound gay? by linking to the Kendall Square cinema website, here.
This Saturday is the monthly LGBT party in Allston at Great Scott. This month resident DJ Colby Drasher will be joined by guest DJ MS Lotus. Come down and check out the drag show and enjoy the music.
I have no issue with outing public figures who speak out against gay rights or vote for legislation that is harmful to the gay community; read Buh bye Aaron Schock.
But I do take issue with bloggers and websites that indiscriminately “out” people for a news story like Gawker’s recent decision to use an angry sex worker who was extorting an executive at Condé Nast. If you are unaware of what I am referring to, Huffington Post has an article about the incident worth reading, Gawker’s Outing of Condé Nast’s CFO is Gay- Shaming, Not Journalism.
Reading Gabriel Arana’s article made me angry. In my opinion, Gawker’s decision to publish this story makes them an accessory to extortion.
This Saturday the Manhunt Mansion once again plays host to help fund raise for another gay organization. This weekend come out and have fun in the sun to show your support for G.O.A.L. New England.
I’ve included a few more photos from past pool parties. All are welcome to attend as these fund raisers and they are genuinely a lot of fun. If you haven’t any plans for this Saturday check it out. Tickets cost $20 and the party runs from 2-6PM
