This week’s Furry Friday was submitted by a longtime reader and fellow Twittah follower, @2Coh rkernVanceR.
Thanks for all the photos. Glad you like my weekly Furry Friday post.
Are you looking to connect with a friendly group? Want to mix things up and make more friends who are open to going out, trying new places and possibly planning a weekend or two away? Boston’s very own The Welcoming Committee (TWC) has now expanded into Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. This Friday, TWC, will host their monthly, Guerrilla Queer Bar (GQB) event, where they take over a traditionally straight venue and fill it with members looking to have fun and share a few laughs.
Like The Welcoming Committee’s Facebook Page to be among the first to learn where this Friday’s Guerrilla Queer Bar will take place in Boston, Philly and Washington, D.C.
Last year more than 400 people attended Pride Night at Fenway Park. Due to the popularity of the event it is being presented again by Boston Pride for this year’s celebration on Thursday, June 12th.
The game is an official event in this year’s Pride Week and the proceeds of each ticket purchased will benefit Boston Pride. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while they last. Purchase your tickets online ($30 for Right Field Grandstand or $28 for Bleacher seats) here, redsox.com/pride .
For groups of 20 or more, please contact Travis Pollio at 617-226-6790 or email him at, tpollio@redsox.com.
“It was only a few weeks ago that America was lecturing the gay community about its intolerance for intolerance, for objecting to a bigot (in fact, an anti-gay activist, Brendan Eich) running a major American corporation (in this case, the Mozilla Foundation). Republicans, including gay conservatives, were particularly upset that anyone would judge a man’s job performance, especially the man running a company, by his personal animus towards minorities, many of whom would be his own employees. So long as he didn’t discriminate against his own employees, he was free to be a bigot, they told us. Now, they’re all eating crow. Today, even conservatives are saying (on CNN) that the NBA simply must investigate whether the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team, Donald Sterling, made racist remarks to his girlfriend, who is black and Mexican. Apparently, Donald Sterling made the mistake of buying a basketball team rather than taking over a high-tech company.” – John Aravosis, writing for AmericaBlog.

Unbeknownst to me, Yahoo News picked up my most recent Scruffy Sunday post over the weekend.
While there were a lot of very nasty comments (the majority of which I deleted), it was quite a nice surprise. I don’t expect that Yahoo News will publish anything else from me, and it is unlikely I will ever see such stats again but it certainly was fun while it lasted.
Many of the bloggers whom I list on my blogroll will no doubt be scratching their head at the dramatic increase in referrer links coming from my blog starting this past Sunday, and I wanted to offer some explanation as well as to comment that I have no idea how or why Yahoo News came to select my weekly post, but I have enjoyed the ride. The past couple days have been pretty cool.
Earlier today Boston Pride announced the five musical acts will headline the Boston Pride Festival on Saturday, June 14th from noon to 6pm at Boston’s City Hall Plaza. This year’s entertainment includes: Mary Lambert, A Great Big World, Alex Newell, JD Samson & Men , and Jeanie Tracy.
4/15/2014 Update: I was contacted by an employee of The Trophy Room who confirmed the Saturday Block Party will indeed take place as in past years outside the Chandler Inn.
With Fritz no longer at the corner of Chandler and Berkeley, I’m wondering if the unofficial block party that typically follows the parade on Saturday will still take place there. Last year AIDS Action Committee (the beneficiary of the Saturday block party) merged with Fenway Health so I’m unsure of the status of that event. Anyone happen to know?
