The Kinsey Sicks
San Francisco’s dragapella beauty shop quartet just posted this humorous ditty on YouTube and I couldn’t help but share it.
The Kinsey Sicks are currently touring. Sadly, they will not be in Boston this fall but you may see the full calendar of tour dates here.
Vintage gay photographs
A blog I’ve discovered online is the Winger Jock blog, which first got my attention with the recent post, 100 Years of Gay Couples, it posted last week.
The post includes 19 other pictures of gay couples spanning the last century and as Pierre from Winger Jock Blog says, “Yes, we have been around forever.“
dbar Tea Dance next weekend
Mark the date in your calendars and plan on coming out to dbar where proceeds raised will go to support and help the Boston Living Center.
REI CEO endorses marriage equality in letter to employees
2012 appears to be the year US businesses decided to weigh in on the issue of same sex marriage. There have been a few organizations (notably Chick-Fil-A) that have indicated their opposition to same-sex marriage, but most that have spoken on this issue have come out in favor of same-sex marriage.
The ever growing list of marquee companies putting their reputation on the line and risking the ire of those who disagree with supporting LGBT rights is a testament to how far this conversation has come and how accepting the American public is becoming.
Earlier this week Towleroad reported that REI has joined the list of companies publicly backing same sex marriage. Washington United for Marriage said CEO and President Sally Jewell strongly endorsed marriage equality in a letter to employees earlier this month. Read Jewell’s heartfelt blog post to REI employees here.
Thank you Sally Jewell for your support

First kiss
I can ask any of my girlfriends and they will be able to recite when and where they had their first kiss. For some it was all they hoped (or perhaps their memory is just kind) and for some it was terrible and results in groans or giggles thinking back to that moment.
First Gay Kiss
However, for most gay men and women, there are two first kisses. That first kiss with the member of the opposite sex and then your first kiss with a person of the same sex. While I was perusing YouTube earlier this week, I saw a lot of videos of guys talking about their “first gay kiss” and it got me to thinking…
Do you remember your first kiss with a person of the same sex? Was it all you hoped for? Was it a complete disaster? Do tell.

Pressure on Chick-Fil-A ain’t going away
The Public Relations department for Chick-Fil-A may hope the controversy stirred up by their president, Dan Cathy, will now go away, but I have no intention of letting this issue drop.
And thanks to 80,000 petition signatures urging the publisher of the Berenstains Bears, HarperCollins, to stop providing books in Chick-fil-A Kids’ meals, I’m not alone either.
Last week representatives from CREDO Action, SumofUs.org and Faithful America delivered the signed petition to HarperCollins. The SumofUs.org founder had this to say why they collected signatures.
By partnering with Chick-fil-A, a company that actively bankrolls hatred and discrimination against the LGBT community, HarperCollins is undermining the lessons of the beloved Bear family. The Berenstains should follow the Muppets’ lead, and cut ties with Chick-fil-A. HarperCollins has a chance here to make a stand for equality and strike a blow against bigotry.
Cup of Joe
Actually I should call this post “cup of Bo” since this is the very handsome model, Bo Roberts. I figure if your morning cup of joe hasn’t kicked in yet, perhaps this image of Bo will get your attention.
Much thanks to David over at WGB for posting this on his blog last week. It was just the inspiration I needed.
Sex is the question: Survey looks at AIDS in gay and bisexual communities
The Huffington Post reports HIV among gay and bisexual men is increasing and a new study — unprecedented in its comprehensiveness and scope — is underway to find out why.
The survey which is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University will poll 25,000 volunteers through an online survey.
You may read the full article in the Huffington Post here. To take the survey which only takes a few minutes click here.
Furry Friday
Last week I was talking about how difficult it is to find photographs of handsome black men with hairy chests. Hearing my passive-aggressive pleas for help, Eric forward me this image. Although this guy isn’t as hairy as past posts, he is most definitely worthy. What do you think?
Suddenly it makes sense
Keeping with the aquatic theme from last week’s suddenly it makes sense post, I thought I’d share this very cool photo from the London Olympic games. Why isn’t synchronized diving on every weekend? I can watch this all day long. Did you watch synchronized diving this year?
What Olympic sporting event(s) do you enjoy watching?
