Call Me Maybe cover by Harvard baseball team

Harvard students + Baseball + Pop Music = Heaven

Okay so the camera is shaky but these baseball players from Harvard are too cute. I know I recently posted a YouTube version of this song from a group of guys in WeHo which you can see here.  But after seeing these handsome guys hamming it up on camera I felt compelled to post this. I’m sure this video will bring a smile to you as well.

For the record, according to the notes in the video the guy to the left was legitimately asleep and never woke up through the entire filming.

Call Me Maybe

Its hard to listen to the radio for more than 10 minutes without hearing Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop smash, Call Me Maybe.

However, JLo’s handsome back up dancer, Matt McCall, drag queen Rhea Litre and gay adult film star, Nicco Sky, have created a far more funny and visually appealing video, which I’m sure you’ll enjoy watching (not to mention singing along to).

If you liked this video be sure to check out Randy Blue’s tribute to Kylie Minogue, Get Outta My Way.

Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg

Lake ChargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamauggMost towns in New England are named after places in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. However, many of the lakes have Native American names.  For example, my parents have a home on Lake Winnipesaukee. However, difficult that may be to spell it pales in comparison to the 45-letter lake which I’ll refer to as Lake Webster since its in Webster, MA.

Curious how to say this incredibly long name?  Well I just so happened to stumble upon a song all about the lake. The song first mentions Lake Chargoggagoggmanchuaggagogg (I hope I spelled that correctly) around the 40 second mark. The whole video makes me think of the talent show at Kellerman’s resort in Dirty Dancing.

News anchor fail compilation

Perhaps you have seen this compilation of news goofs. If not, the two minute clip is sure to appeal to the juvenile and give you a chuckle.

Scott Herman

Love this Scott Herman video shooting for COMPETE Magazine.  Not only is Scott Herman easy on the eyes, he’s a huge ally for the LGBT community and a native New Englander as you’ll see from the shout out Herman gives the Granite State at the start of the video.

“I was a severely conservative Republican” – Mitt Romney

Now that the Republican Presidential primary season has essentially ended, President Obama’s re-election team has released this video.

Australia Got Talent: Dylan Yeandle

How is it that this happened last May and I’m only now seeing this video? If America had similar talent, I might just watch our version of this program.  Check out Dylan as he sings Tom Jones Sex Bomb. Does anyone in Australia know what ever became of this Sex Bomb?

Alvin Ailey

Tonight I’ve been invited by a friend to attend the Alvin Ailey dance theater performance in Boston.  Sadly, my friend confused her dates 😦 and Alvin Ailey is coming to Boston next week when she is in Vegas.  Let’s see if I can nab some tickets to see this amazing dance troupe.

Ailey’s dance troupe comes to Boston each year to perform classics like Revelations and Sinner Man as well as newer dances all of which are beautifully choreographed and breathtaking to watch.  Over the years I’ve enjoyed watching these performances and consider myself lucky to get such great tickets. If you’ve never been you can try to get tickets online here.

Child Celebs Opposing Kirk Cameron (CCOKC)

Not safe for work but hilarious and poignant.Enjoy and share.

Just found out that the video has been removed but you can watch it on the Funny or Die website here.

Lindsay Lohan

I absolutely fell in love with Lindsay Lohan years ago when I watched the remake of the Disney classic The Parent Trap, and I have enjoyed many of her films notably, Mean Girls.  However, it appears that Lindsay’s very public issues with chemical abuse have tarnished the lens with which we all view her.

This video which chronicles some 25 years in 60 seconds is cool to watch until the final few seconds.  The transformation is both startling and a caution against excessive plastic surgery.

To be heard

If you don’t learn to write your own life story,

someone else will write it for you.

As I mentioned previously, April is National Poetry Month so when I happened to see To be heard on PBS I was glued to my television.  This documentary tracks three teenagers from the South Bronx as they tell their stories of friendship, love and struggle, and show how a radical poetry class inspires them to change.  The documentary also shows how language and in particular poetry brings people together.

Check out the trailer To Be Heard

Ouch!

If you laugh after watching this quick video you and I share the same devious sense of humor.

James Van Der Beek

“Put your cheeks in a Beek.”

Um, what did he just say? Check out this – dare I say “cheeky” video of James Van Der Beek – promoting his new ABC sitcom.  This is hilarious.

10 years ago we couldn’t get Kylie Minogue out of our head

Ten years ago, March 28, 2002, Kylie Minogue’s smash hit Can’t Get You Out of My Head peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to post another video of Kylie for awhile now and this seemed fitting. I was lucky enough to see her in Boston last April where she kicked off the US leg of her tour.  Clearly I’ve Kylie on the brain if I’m still thinking about a show from nearly a year ago.

Modern day “Make way for the ducklings”

Check out this fantastic story about a Spokane, WA banker named Joel Armstrong.  If you’re a parent definitely share this after reading the classic “Make way for the ducklings”.   Thanks for sharing John Pompeii.
