Brokelahomo opens tonight at the Ramrod Performing Arts Theatre
Ryan Landry and his Gold Dust Orphans newest musical, Brokelahomo, opens tonight at the Ramrod Performing Arts Theatre. The musical which sounds like Brokeback Mountain meets Oklahoma, but really is anyone’s guess what Ryan Landry’s perverse imagination has conjured up will play Thursday thru Saturday nights with a matinee show on Saturday and a 5PM show on Sunday.
Over 1,200 tickets have already been sold.
Get your tickets before they all sell out!
About Brokelahomo: Brokelahomo is a town in trouble. Overrun by dirty, outlaw gays, the few law abiding citizens left must spend their days dodging bullets, putting out church fires and fearing for their pets lives. That is until a heterosexual is sent for. Enter Dusty Rhodes, the unlikely hero of this far out fable set in the groovy 1880s! Will Dusty clean up the town? Or will the gay cattle rustlers and homo hoodlums head him off at the pass?
Vintage gay
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
Shawmut Ave/Washington St block public meeting
Last October I wrote about a new development that was proposed in the South End along Shawmut Avenue / Herald Street / Washington Street in my post 112 Shawmut Avenue.
The mixed use project which will include three buildings will have a combined total maximum of 660,000+ square feet with the new construction retaining the facade of the six-story brick building currently on the corner of Herald and Shawmut. If you are interested in learning more about this project the public is invited to provide feedback and ask questions at a public meeting on May 2nd.
The details and logistics surrounding that meeting are here: Shawmut Avenue / Washington Street Block Public Meeting.
This week on Instagram: thalisbolzan
I have no clue how I stumbled upon Dr. Bolzan’s Instagram account but he must be one of the most handsome doctors I’ve ever seen. Years ago I had a doctor at the Fenway Health Clinic who was so good looking I had to change primary care physicians, because I couldn’t concentrate on anything he said and let’s just say when he had to examine me it was excruciatingly embarrassing. Although my doctor didn’t look like Thalis, he was equally handsome and for that reason I can’t help but think of him when I look at this picture.
If you like what you see you should definitely follow this Brazilian doctor’s account on Instagram.
Follow him on Instagram here, instagram.com/thalisbolzan.

Boston’s gay men’s book club
Each Tuesday I’m featuring a different LGBTQ club or organization to help connect gay men living in the Boston area. One such group you may not know about is Boston’s gay men’s book club. This active group of men meet monthly in the Back Bay.
This group meets monthly at the Trident Bookseller & Cafe, located on the last block of Newbury Street. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in participating, check out the group. This month they are reading After the Blue Hour by John Rechy, and will discuss it on Monday, April 30th. For more info click here.
I want to feature the LGBTQ groups and organizations that help people connect and enrich Boston’s gay life. If you’d like to have your club / team featured, please email me at bosguymail@gmail.com or via FB messenger.
