Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating the holiday. While many may be in a self-induced food coma, you can (and should) get out and work off some of those calories. While many of you will head out for Black Friday, I encourage you to reserve some energy for going out and meeting up with friends later.

It is Thanksgiving in the US, and I am spending the day with Sergio, my parents and a good friend in Portsmouth, NH. I want to wish everyone celebrating this holiday a relaxing and fun day. The photo above dates back to Thanksgiving 2015 when we were visiting Rio de Janeiro with friends.
Unsure who this family is but based on the hair and what I can see I would guess this was taken in the early 1980s. Anyone know anything about this photo?

Thanksgiving is tomorrow so it seems only fitting that I would feature a master chef who can tempt you with both his handsome photos like the one I’ve pulled from chef Pablo’s IG account as well as some of his delicious creations.
Chef Pablo Ranea is from Argentina and I hope to be able to connect with him next month when Sergio and I head to Mendoza, Argentina. Lately, Ranea has made a name for himself with his pop-up restaurants in Argentina and here in the United States. Check out the photo below from his dinner in California this past September. American Thanksgiving is tomorrow making this one of the busiest weeks of the year to travel so I thought this image was timely to use for this weekly post. Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up a caption or two of your own. Leave a witty or funny caption as a comment for this post, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.
“The new super affordable upper deck seating”
A new residential development has been proposed for 566 Columbus Avenue. The building which sits at the busy intersection of Mass and Columbus Ave was purchased earlier this year by New Boston Ventures, and the new owners have proposed redeveloping the site into a new six-story mixed use commercial and residential building (rendering shown above).
The proposed project (currently unnamed) would feature a community oriented ground floor with approximately 5,000 sf of commercial space that would include a social enterprise café with outdoor seating, an art gallery, and improved community space for the United South End Settlements, which has been in the existing building since the mid 1970s.
The proposed project would include 66 residential home ownership units, 11 of which would be reserved for artist live/work spaces, as well as 42 below-grade parking spaces. The proposal would seem to make much better use of the space as it exists today (see below).
I’m not sure if this is a kilt or not – it’s kind of impossible to tell what the heck he is wearing but it sure is fun to look at.

Last weekend I found myself reading Jaclyn Cashman’s article in the Boston Herald, “Sale of Hynes must include commitment to arts center”, and I’d encourage you to do the same.
She asserts that the building should not just go to the highest bidder but to a buyer that will commit serious square footage dedicated to the arts. Boston has spent the better part of the last decade bending over backwards, accommodating developers looking to build luxury residences that do little to enhance the quality of life in Boston and it is now time to make investments that can benefit all.
I know this guy barely has a five o’clock shadow but I felt compelled to make an exception and hope you agree. Next week I’ll be back with more scruff.
