Free Shakespeare on the Boston Common

Shakespeare in loveThe Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is currently hosting their annual production of a free William Shakespeare play on the Boston Common. The first show started on Wednesday evening. This year’s production of Cymbeline will run through Sunday, August 4th with performances taking place Tuesday–Saturday at 8PM, Sundays at 7PM with the exception of hosting  a 3PM matinee on Saturday, August 3rd.

Be sure to make plans so you can and enjoy an evening of Shakespeare under the stars. on the Boston Common. I’m happy to provide suggestions on where to get bites and beverages to bring with you so you needn’t carry them from home. This makes for a fun night out with friends or a great date with someone special.

Vintage gay

This photo really struck me because according to the University of Wisconsin-Madison archives where this photo is from it depicts two men (one in drag) from the 1930s. Some may not realize that it was illegal to dress in drag at that time and one risked being arrested for cross-dressing in the US at that time.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

jo ji art, gay cartoonThis week I’m featuring the Instagram account of a talented cartoonist / illustrator based out of Thailand who uses the handle, @jo_ji_art.

I don’t really know much more about the artist other than he posts regularly and draws the same character sometimes solo but often with other beefy cartoons – which I assume might be his partner. If you like what you see, definitely follow him on Instagram (a link to his account is below) or you can also purchase his book on Etsy, Jo Ji Art The Poster Collection.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brain

Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser: David is 5 years old. Fred is 4 years old. Alina is also 5 years old. Daniel is 6 years old. Valentina is 9. How old is Ronnie and how did you figure it out?
