BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:

Everyone my call can hear
From the old to the newborn.
Feed me and I’ll disappear
Though, I’m never truly gone.

Vintage gay

Witter Bynner, Robert Hunt

This week’s photo is of poet Witter Bynner and Robert Hunt taken in the 1920s.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

High quality photos and videos of very handsome men of color; usually shirtless which is more than fine in my opinion. If you find that your IG feed is looking a little pale, this might be just the account to follow to add some color. Check out the cute IG video below for another example of what you can come to expect by following menofcolour.

Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up a caption or two of your own. Leave a witty or funny caption as a comment for this post, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.

Toys for Joys is this Friday

T4J, gay boston, toys for joys bostonI wanted to give another shout out for this year’s Toys for Joys celebration which will take place this Friday, December 7th at the Revere Hotel in Boston.  Unlike most fundraisers, this event is devoid of rubber chicken dinners and long speeches. Organizers do ask that anyone who buys a  ticket also purchase 3 gifts:

  • one for tots (3-months to 5 yrs)
  • tweens (6-11 yrs)
  • teens (12-18yrs)

If your last name begins with A-M you purchase toys for a girl and if your last name begins with N-Z purchase gifts for boys. Gifts should be unwrapped and will be placed under the tree.

Get Your Toys for Joys Tickets here

Toys for Joys, Inc. is a non-profit, 100% volunteer, charitable organization that raises funds from individual and corporate sponsors. We organize social events to collect and donate new toys and gifts for underprivileged children and teens.

Call for Artists: Application for residency at Provincetown Dune Shacks

Each year The Provincetown Compact offers several artist and writers residencies in the historic Fowler and C-Scape (shown below) dune shacks located within Peaked Hill Bars National Register Historic District of the Cape Cod National Seashore. The shacks are primitive lacking electricity and indoor plumbing — and isolated, allowing for uninterrupted solitude and refuge.

The Compact funds, or partially subsidizes, residencies for three visual artists who are selected by jury and for two writers who are selected by lottery. The top recipient of the artist residency will also receive a $500 fellowship.

The Deadline for residencies is January 15, 2019
