Equality Illinois hosts OUT at the Sox

gay sportsNormally when I write about baseball it is about my Boston Red Sox. However, I read a story in Huffington Post about Equality Illinois hosting what I believe to be the first LGBT “Night Out” to see the Chicago White Sox.

The evening has apparently drawn some mean spirited comments from some White Sox fans so I wanted to voice my support for the LGBT Pride Night and encourage anyone who might read my blog and live in Chicago to enjoy the evening.  For more information about the evening and to purchase tickets link here.

Bruce Vilanch at Club Cafe on Saturday

If you are looking for a good night of laughs, I would assume this is as close to a sure thing as one can get.

Vilanch is wickedly funny, and I assume when in a room of mostly gay men his stories will make for an evening you won’t soon forget.

If you haven’t made plans already you may want to consider checking out this show.  Get your tickets ahead of time since the show is likely to sell out.  Get your tickets online from Club Cafe’s website here.

Warwick Rowers crowdfunder has kicked off

gay sportI’m sure nearly every gay man who reads this blog is familiar with the Warwick Rowers in the UK who for the past few years have been posing naked and selling calendars in an attempt to draw attention to homophobia in sport. Proceeds they raise go to sportallies.org; a group dedicated to promoting inclusion and challenging homophobia through sport.

While the video and calendar these guys produce is NSFW – their cause is most worthwhile so I wanted to let you know that they have kicked off their crowdfunder campaign for their 2015 calendar.

If inclined, I’d direct you to warwickrowers.org/crowdfunder.

If you liked the video you may want to do some shopping on their website. Remember that the proceeds go to fight homophobia in sport, warwickrowers.org/shop.

Thanks to Lambert Rahming for bringing this to my attention.

Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional

same sex marriage in virginiaToday a federal appeals court panel struck down Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage.  The decision is significant because it also means similar marriage bans in North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia (states also part of the 4th Circuit) are considered unconstitutional.

Today’s ruling also impacts NC, SC and W VA.

This marks the second time an appellate-level court has ruled on state marriage bans and it sets the stage for a showdown in the US Supreme Court to consider state-level laws.

Boston’s most notorious gay couple, The Maverick Men, are hosting 3,600 gay men on a private charter cruise that leaves from Miami, Florida with ports of call in Key West, Mexico and Honduras  and you can join them.

Cole and Hunter make for great travel buddies.  We enjoyed our time together last December in Brazil, but we will have to miss the cruise since we’ll be in South America. Perhaps you’d like to join the cruise and tell me all about it? More info about the cruise is here.
