Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka in Ptown

Provincetown, Ptown, Cafe HeavenThis evening Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka are performing two shows in Provincetown. My friend Alan posted this picture of them posing with him in front of Cafe Heaven earlier today.

I’m sure the show tonight which also features Seth Rudetsky will be fabulous.  I’m glad NPH and David had the chance to meet Alan and enjoy a breakfast at one of my favorite spots in Ptown.

New England native Seth Myers explains why Boston said “No” to hosting the Olympic games

New England native, Seth Meyers, explains Boston’s spurning of the Olympic Games bid on his show Late Night with Seth Meyers to the rest of America, “Come on, Olympics, they [Bostonians] dressed up like Indians because they didn’t like a tax on their tea. Did you think they were going to stand by while you made them pay $20 billion for privilege of having a javelin contest in their town?”

Well Strung at the Ptown Art House

Chelseas Mom Well StrungOn Wednesday night a group of us went to go see Well Strung perform at the Ptown Art House.  This year’s show, Summer Lovin, didn’t disappoint. They played, Chelsea’s Mom, which you can watch below, but my favorite song was their rendition of Summer Lovin, which quickly becomes Ptown Lovin.

If you cannot get to Provincetown, you can see them today (July 25th) at Rehoboth Beach for one show only and you can check out their tour dates here.

Zac Efron’s little brother tells it like it is in a poem about big brother

Dylan and Zac EfronWhile trolling perusing the Internet I stumbled across a post on boy culture which led me to OMG blog about a poem Zac Efron’s younger brother, Dylan, wrote when he was a kid. I think anyone who has a close relationship with their brother could probably relate to this cute poem Dylan wrote.

Margaret Cho comes to Boston Saturday, Oct 10th

Margaret Cho tourJust in case you happened to miss this news, Margaret Cho is coming back to Boston on Saturday, October 10th, as part of her Psycho Tour. A limited number of tickets remain to see her only show in Boston at the Wilbur Theater.  I’m going to see if Sergio and I will be in town to catch this show. It has been several years since I last saw Margaret Cho live and she always entertains.

Never seen her before? Check out some of her previous comedy shows on YouTube.  Her skit about her mother’s take on “the gays” is one of my favorites.  Mom on Gays (a.k.a. Gay Story about Daddy).

Stephen Colbert mocks Justices Roberts and Scalia

Yesterday Stephen Colbert released a video mocking US Supreme  Court Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Scalia who both dissented on the Marriage Equality ruling.  Pity he didn’t take on homophobe Justice Clarence Thomas who’s absurd dissent invoked images of slavery.

“The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government. Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them. And those denied governmental benefits certainly do not lose their dignity because the government denies them those benefits. The government cannot bestow dignity, and it cannot take it away.”

Jennifer Hudson’s “I Still Love You”

I know this video is making the rounds on all the gay blogs but I can’t think of a better video to share on a Saturday evening.  I’m sure I’ll be hearing this played quite a bit in Provincetown this summer.

Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed

Uncisclosed, SerialAttention Serial addicts! A new podcast, that starts today, will look more closely at a murder that happened in Baltimore more than fifteen years ago. The podcast called Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed will reveal ‘new evidence and information’ in the 1999 murder of Woodlawn H.S. student Hae Min Lee and the subsequent trial and incarceration of her former boyfriend, Adnan Syed.

Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed podcast

Like many, I first became aware of Hae Min Lee and Adnan Syed after listening to the incredibly addicting (and gripping) 12-part podcast called Serial. If you’ve not listened to the original podcast series, I highly encourage you to check it out, here.
