Michael Bublé Christmas special tonight

The special, which was filmed this past October at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in on NBC at 8pm ET and will include  Barbra Streisand, Ariana Grande and my personal favorite, Miss Piggy.

Merry Christmas

The Colbert Report – The Word – President Obama

Apparently I’m one of the few (24% according to Rasmussen’s Presidential Tracking Poll), who strongly approve of President Obama’s performance.  My only real ongoing beef with Obama is in the realm of foreign policy – but even that is all relative when I think back to his predecessor’s foreign policy.

I love this clip from The Colbert Report and if you’ve not had a chance to see it perhaps you should.  It is not only very savvy of him when you think about the demographic he is reaching but also very self-deprecating; something I appreciate.

Saturday night video: Looking Season 2 Trailer

Earlier this week HBO issued another teaser for the second season of Looking, which returns Sunday, January 11, 2015.  I’m not a fan of the 30-minute format for dramas, but I eventually did get hooked on the series.  Do you plan on watching Season 2 of Looking?

EW’s Mean Girls’ reunion interview

The 2004 flick, Mean Girls,  written by Tina Fey remains one of my favorite teen films of all times.  For the movie’s 10th anniversary, EW invited the film’s female leads to come together and dish about their memories, behind-the-scenes magic, and what they think their characters would be doing now.

These are some of my favorite Mean Girls quotes:

On Wednesdays we wear pink.” (I’ve actually written posts about this one).

“Gretchen, stop trying to make fetch happen! It’s not going to happen!”

I’m sorry I called you a gap-toothed bitch. It’s not your fault you’re so gap-toothed.

You can read this delicious interview on EW’s site, here.

Saturday night video: Time Warp

Halloween was just last night and Boston is still embracing the holiday so this seems like an appropriate video to share this evening. I like the subtitles in Italian, but mostly I just like that there wasn’t an annoying commercial that played before I watched it so I posted this version.

Postmodern Jukebox: All About That Bass

I’ve posted various clips of Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox in the past and with him currently on tour in the US I thought I’d share yet another recent release he posted this past September on YouTube.

CBS to premiere The McCarthy’s: Boston family with gay son

The McCarthys on CBS

The McCarthy’s is a new sitcom on CBS that takes place in Boston later this month. The lead role stars former NKOTB singer, Joey McIntyre.  I hadn’t heard of the show until I read Out.com’s review, which by the way panned it.

Out.com reviewer, Daniel D’Addario, wrote, “The problem is that Ronny [played by Joey McIntyre] is the kind of walking cliché that savvy viewers would think disappeared sometime between Will & Grace and Happy Endings.” (outch!)

D’Addario describes the portrayal of the gay character played by Joey McIntyre as something that would have been in vogue 10-15 years ago.  While I’ve never been one to put too much credence on reviews, some of the critiques make me cringe. Hopefully a more interesting storyline will emerge following the pilot.  Do you plan to watch The McCarthy’s?

You can read the full review here.

Post Modern Jukebox returns to Boston

Scott Bradlee’s Post Modern Jukebox returns to Boston October 19th at the Wilbur Theatre.  I have repeatedly posted videos of the Post Modern Jukebox – a band that remakes popular songs and performs them in different musical genres with talented vocalists.

I love their work and wanted to share news of their return to the area so you may purchase tickets to see them on tour.

Tickets to Post Modern Jukebox on Oct 19th
