Toys for Joys Boston 2012

toys-for-joys-inviteThis past Saturday was the 4th annual Toys for Joys in Boston. Each year this event collects thousands of gifts that are in-turn passed along to local charities for their distribution to underprivileged children during the holiday season. I love the cause and enjoy the party each year. If you missed Saturday’s party, but want to contribute to this non-profit’s cause, you may make a donation on their website, here.

Thank you to all who posed for the photos from the 4th Annual Toys for Joys and thank you to Sergio for bringing along the camera.

Holiday parties in Boston

There seem to be holiday parties seem nearly every night now and on Wednesday night several parties had me dashing around town.  Below are photos from the Hump Day Holiday Party Sean Williams (a.k.a. BostonMo on Twitter) hosted to gather toys for children in Boston.

Later that evening I headed over to the Mitchell Gold 12.12.12. party to celebrate the opening of their newly expanded flagship store in the South End.  DJ Lady Bunny had great music playing all night and the crowd of several hundred attendees seemed to enjoy the party. I know I did.  Below are just a few photos from the party. Mitchell Gold 121212 PartyThanks to all those who were patient enough to pose. Apologies if your photo was not included.

Holiday light and sound show at Faneuil Hall

While I was away, Blink, a light and sound show started a six week run in Faneuil Hall.

Blink includes music from the Boston Pops, 350,ooo LED lights and an 85′ high Christmas tree.  It looks quite beautiful, and I hope to see it firsthand but until then I have BMadden from YouTube to thank for sharing this taping when they were testing it one evening.

Blink occurs between 4:30 to 10:00pm each half hour through December 31st.

Boston Santa Speedo Run

Santa Speedo RunOne month from today Boston will host the 13th annual Santa Speedo Run.  This year the local beneficiary will be Play Ball Foundation.

Over the years, this hilarious and fun tradition has spread to other cities so check and see if a similar event will be taking place in your hometown.

The run starts at 1pm on Boylston Street near the Prudential Mall so arrive early to cheer runners who will be in speedos running to raise money for the Play Ball Foundation.  Never been or won’t be able to attend? Here is a video from last year.

Gingerbread Oreos now at Walmart

In September Nabisco introduced Candy Corn Oreos in time for Halloween, and now the cookie company is selling for a limited time at Walmart, Gingerbread Oreos. Have you tried them? What do you think?

As with my original post about Candy Corn Oreos, I thought I should share this YouTube video for “The Dipr” – a cookie dipping spoon.

The Slutcracker

The Slutcraker returns to Boston for its 5th year.  This home-grown holiday spectacular returns to the Somerville Theatre this December and will proudly host a very special holiday show on Christmas Eve.

This scene-by-scene retelling of the Nutcracker, resplendent with ribald parody, “whisks the audience away to a carefree realm of sexual fantasy.” Do you have an uptight friend? Bring them with you and watch them squirm.

This year’s performance starts on Saturday, December 1st. Tickets are $25 and will sell fast.  Here is my write up from last year.

Santa Speedo Run registration opens tomorrow

Happy Boxing Day

Boxing Day is a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26. It is observed in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations. I use it as an excuse to post a sexy picture of a boxer.

Twas the night before Christmas

Well its not quite night in Boston just yet, but it will be before I realize it.  Today will be spent running errands and getting our home ready for  friends who will stop by this evening.  This is a tradition we started a few years back when we realized we had several friends who would not be going home for Christmas.  We dubbed it an orphans Christmas Eve and each year since then we’ve hosted what is a very relaxing and pleasant evening in my opinion.  As a result there will be little time to blog.

Tomorrow, Sergio and I will drive one hour north of Boston to a tiny town in Southern New Hampshire where my parent’s live so I’d like to use this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas.  For those who don’t celebrate the holiday, I’d still like to say “good tidings we bring” as the song’s lyrics say.  I’m not 100% certain what “tidings” are but it sounds nice, doesn’t it?

Merry Merry

Santa, all I want for Christmas is abs

Since I’ve been so good, may I please have nicely defined abs for Christmas?
