BBFThe Boston Book Festival takes place next weekend October 23 – 25 in Copley Square and through out much of the Back Bay. I believe this marks the 6th annual book festival which has grown significantly and last year attracted more than 25,000 people.

Doris Kearns Goodwin, Herbie Hancock, Norman FosterThe weekend event combines a street festival with an array of authors and other literary presenters from here and around the world. Daytime events at the Boston Book Festival are free and there are some lectures and other evening events that are offered for a modest fee.   If you’ve never attended this free, public event in Boston, I’d encourage you to check it out.  More information about this year’s Boston Book Festival may be found on their website, www.bostonbookfest.org.

Call some friends and suggest meeting there after work then grab a bite or drink nearby. I suggest Row 34 for dinner and Drink for a great bar option.

Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival

Berklee Jazz Music festival in BostonThe Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival – Boston’s biggest block party – takes place in the South End  Saturday, September 27, from 12 – 6 on Columbus Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Burke Street.

The outdoor performances are open to the public and free of charge.  This is one of my favorite neighborhood events because the music is always great and the crowd is very friendly.

Prince fans from the 1980s might be happy to know that one of his proteges, Sheila E, is among the many performers playing on the Natixis Stage.  You can catch her set at 5PM.

Never been? Mark it in your calendar and check it out.  The price is right and the entertainment is great.
