2015 Gay Pride season is around the corner
While Gay Pride celebrations now happen virtually year round, June remains the month when most cities host their traditional LGBT festivals. What started as a political movement born out of a need to advocate for change has grown to also become a celebration of our lives, families, contributions to society and hopes for a better tomorrow for everyone in our community.
Pride celebrations are a fantastic way to bring our diverse community together and celebrate. Below are dates for some of the many US Pride celebrations this June.
June 5 – 7 Detroit and Milwaukee
June 12-14 Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
June 19 – 21 Denver, New Orleans and Providence
June 26 – 28 Chicago, Houston, NYC, San Francisco, and Seattle
I’m happy to write that I couldn’t list all of the Pride celebrations in the US because there are now so many. Feel free to give your local Pride celebration a shout out in my comments section no matter where you may be celebrating.
Happy Pride

Saturday night video Daniel Garofali
Back in 2009 I first saw /met Daniel Garofali when he was still dancing as a go go boy in the Sydney gay bars along Oxford Street. Above is a photo taken from the Sydney Opera House drag show we attended that year. Not long after our visit to Australia Garofali’s good looks took him to America and Europe.
Daniel Garofali has parlayed his looks into a successful career as a male model. Enjoy this throwback video from his 2012 calendar photoshoot.
If you’d like to see Garofali before he made it big, watch these video clips of the show we took from our phones I Got The Music In Me and Hot Stuff (he appears around the 50 second mark).

How Irish seniors will vote on Marriage Equality on May 22nd
Friday, May 22nd Ireland will vote on whether or not they will allow same sex couples to marry under their Constitution. I wrote about this last month and shared a video called Marriage Equality: Bring your family with you.
Earlier this week Independent.ie shared the video above – talking to Irish seniors on how they will vote on Friday, May 22. If you know anyone in Ireland, I’d like to ask that you speak to them to ask how they will vote and encourage them to consider voting Yes for marriage equality in Ireland.
Fenway Health HIV study Stronger Together is looking for gay couples
I’m re-posting this to help raise awareness and to hopefully encourage a few of you to participate in a national study Fenway Health is participating that follows 400 gay couples in Atlanta, Boston and Chicago.
The project, Stronger Together, is focused on encouraging male-male couples to get tested for HIV together and to engage in HIV treatment as a couple. HIV is a difficult issue to talk about with anyone, especially a partner, and that is the real issue around all of this ongoing problem: lack of communication. If you would like to help be part of the solution, Fenway Health would like to hear from you.
If you would like to learn more about this study, visit the Fenway Health website Stronger Together.
Please share and help spread the word in Atlanta, Boston and Chicago.

Boston Center for Adult Education is hosting The Art of Drag on Wednesday, May 20th from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Where enthusiasts, baby Drag Queens and fans can join the tawdry, yet tantalizing, Trampolina Glenellen and the creatively captivating Constance Waverly for an intimate engagement that will pique your interest and open your eyes to a colorful new world.

At this session you will learn secrets of the trade like:
- How long does it really take to get ready?
- Where do you find inspiration?
- What do your families say (and do you really care)?
- Is there such a thing as a pair of heels that is just too high?
- And… What is your idea of a perfect date? (And no Gracie Hart the answer is not April 25th.)
This evening program will be fun-filled and also provide you with an opportunity to get up close and personal with Queens who have pretty much done it all — performed, raised money for charities, and partied like rock stars.
Please read: Tickets are $15. I couldn’t figure out how to purchase tickets online from the BCAE website, but you can purchase tickets over the phone during business hours if you call (617)649-1357 (tell them it is Class ID: 12764).
