If you are like me, it seems like every summer there is a song that you hear so often you can’t help but associate it with the season. From the first moment I heard this song by Daft Punk I was hooked.
Back in April I posted a write up about Rhett Price and Josh Knowles who make a living busking in and around Boston. Check out Rhett and Josh’s latest video Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – filmed on the pedestrian bridge in the Public Garden.
busk (busk) busked, busk·ing, busksTo play music or perform entertainment in a public place, usually while soliciting money.
Boston’s Music Festival – Outside the Box – has been hosting dozens of shows each day since the festival started last week. Later tonight the Adam Ezra Group will take the main stage in City Hall Plaza at 7:30 pm. If you get there earlier, you can also see award-winning recording artist and native Bostonian Adam Jensen who comes on stage at 6pm.
Here’s a song I’m fairly certain the Adam Ezra Group will perform tonight for everyone. Note it’s not exactly work safe.
Are you visiting Provincetown this week or later this summer? Do yourself a favor and go see a show while you are there. The town is full of incredible talent, like these guys – WELL STRUNG – who are back for their 2nd season in Ptown.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones perform Sat, July 20th on The Boston Common

For more information about the Boston FoodFest link here.
Next week, on Thursday, July 18th the ever so hunky Justin Utley will be performing one show during Bear Week in Provincetown at The Crown and Anchor.
Not familiar with Justin? I first wrote about him in early 2012 back when each Monday I posted my “Men of Twitter“.
I’ve also included below a video clip of Justin’s song “It Is What It Is“. If you like what you hear and want to hear more, you may purchase tickets (provided they are still available) online here.

Jasun Mark has teamed up with his buddies Justin King and Dario Beck and found a fun way to deal with being stuck in rush hour traffic, while driving from Los Angeles to Palm Springs.
You may recall that earlier this spring my buddy, Dirk Caber, participated in a similar car video, singing along to Kylie’s song, Timebomb.
With many Americans now obsessing about a short work week, this call for a kiki seems timely – enjoy.
Later this week the Boston Pops and the City of Boston will host one of the country’s largest 4th of July celebrations in the United States. This will also be the first time the national spotlight will be on the city of Boston since the bombings in April so expect tighter than normal security.
If you are planning to enjoy the celebrations down along the Charles River have a great time. I will be hightailing it out of the city of Boston and heading to Provincetown.
What will you be doing to celebrate Independence Day?
Teenagers will rejoice as they head to City Hall Plaza this Sunday to celebrate Boston radio station AMP 103.3 free Birthday Bash. Performances begin at 2PM by Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo, Sammy Adams, and many others. More details about the birthday bash can be found here.
Here is a hilarious take on the Devil Came Down To Georgia. I suppose this is what would happen if the devil ever came up to Boston. Love the song, but note that the F-bomb among other colorful language is laced throughout.
Special thanks to my friend (a New England transplant who actually now lives down in Georgia), Nancy Geery.
DJ James Cerne who now lives in Los Angeles but is one of the founding FOXY Night DJs and promoters whom I’ve written about previously has a new mix he calls Summertime Poolside Recovery Mix.
The forty minute+ mix is bookended by Jacksons – Janet and Michael – and filled with 90s grooves from bands like Soul II Soul.
Heading out tonight? Check out this mix while getting ready.
Mark your calendars, because one month from today Boston will host the first annual performing arts festival, Outside the Box. Free performances from more than 200 artists will temporarily turn the Boston Common and City Hall Plaza into performance spaces.
To see the full line up of artists link here, and to see the schedule of this 9-day festival link here. For all you food enthusiasts – don’t feel left out because the final three days of this festival will also have something called the Boston FoodFest which will transform Boston’s City Hall Plaza from July 18th – 21st into a foodie’s delight, featuring some of the city’s best local restaurants and celebrity chefs. For more information about the Boston FoodFest link here.
Back in early April I wrote that Karmin would be headlining Boston Pride’s Festival on Saturday, June 8th. The duo, who recently moved from Boston where they met at Berkeley School of Music to pursue what has turned out to be a successful career as pop musicians, will most likely play their 2012 hit Hello.
You can see up close how handsome Nick Noonan (one half of Karmin) is if you head down to Government Center later today, following the conclusion of the Boston Pride parade.
