Scott Herman

Love this Scott Herman video shooting for COMPETE Magazine.  Not only is Scott Herman easy on the eyes, he’s a huge ally for the LGBT community and a native New Englander as you’ll see from the shout out Herman gives the Granite State at the start of the video.

On Wednesday’s we wear pink

Australia Got Talent: Dylan Yeandle

How is it that this happened last May and I’m only now seeing this video? If America had similar talent, I might just watch our version of this program.  Check out Dylan as he sings Tom Jones Sex Bomb. Does anyone in Australia know what ever became of this Sex Bomb?

Hillary Clinton: Texts from Hillary

Last week this photo of Hillary Clinton was making the rounds on Facebook, and I loved it the moment I saw it.  The image has inspired a rather funny blog worth checking out called Texts from Hillary.

Apparently Madam Secretary thinks the site is Hillary-ous (sorry that’s my pun).  She contacted the creators of the blog, met and posed with them recently.  You can read all about it in a fun article posted on NPR earlier this week.

Lindsay Lohan

I absolutely fell in love with Lindsay Lohan years ago when I watched the remake of the Disney classic The Parent Trap, and I have enjoyed many of her films notably, Mean Girls.  However, it appears that Lindsay’s very public issues with chemical abuse have tarnished the lens with which we all view her.

This video which chronicles some 25 years in 60 seconds is cool to watch until the final few seconds.  The transformation is both startling and a caution against excessive plastic surgery.

James Van Der Beek

“Put your cheeks in a Beek.”

Um, what did he just say? Check out this – dare I say “cheeky” video of James Van Der Beek – promoting his new ABC sitcom.  This is hilarious.

Neil Patrick Harris to host 2012 Tony Awards

NPHNeil Patrick Harris has been asked back for a third time to host the 2012 Tony Awards which will take place on Sunday, June 10, at 8 p.m. on CBS.

I’m not a fan of award shows.  For all the hoopla surrounding the Oscars it never ceases to amaze me how horrible A-list actors are when they are required to perform one-take in front of a live audience.   Compare that with the Tony Awards where all the Broadway stars perform in front of a live audience every night and the contrast is astounding.

Neil Patrick Harris has shown he can dance, sing and drop a funny line with the best in Hollywood and Broadway so I’ll definitely be setting my DVR to record this show and so should you.

10 years ago we couldn’t get Kylie Minogue out of our head

Ten years ago, March 28, 2002, Kylie Minogue’s smash hit Can’t Get You Out of My Head peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to post another video of Kylie for awhile now and this seemed fitting. I was lucky enough to see her in Boston last April where she kicked off the US leg of her tour.  Clearly I’ve Kylie on the brain if I’m still thinking about a show from nearly a year ago.

Not the next diet fad: The Hunger Games

As I get older it becomes increasingly obvious how much pop culture passes me by. I don’t say this with any regret, but more as a matter of fact.  I was never one to watch E television or subscribe to People magazine, but  I was always plugged in somehow.

When I started hearing about The Hunger Games about a month ago, I was surprised by how much buzz it generated. To give you an idea of how out of touch I am, I Initially thought it was a cruel new dieting fad.  Fast forward to this week and its hard not to hear this movie being mentioned.

As time passes, this movie series like those that came before it will become nostalgic topics for this generation to reminisce about over a drink with friends.  But for me, it will always give me a chuckle as I think back to wondering if The Hunger Games was a cruel diet fad.

Spartacus sizzles

Last year I was mildly addicted to Spartacus: Blood and Sand and developed a bit of a crush on the Welsh actor who played the lead, Andy Whitfield.   Sadly, Whitfield lost his battle with cancer in September, and after he passed, I stopped watching the series.  Maybe I should start watching again.  The writers have clearly increased the homo eroticism in this season’s Spartacus: Vengeance.

Check out this passionate kiss between Agron and Nasir.

Wicked bummah

WickedGayBlog.comDavid over at WGB has decided it’s time to take a break from blogging. WickeGayBlog, which started with a definite Boston slant (hence the name), over the years became more focused on gay issues and pop culture. However, David (a resident of Hull, MA) never forgot his roots and remains a great supporter of my blog and other local bloggers.

I have an irrational relationship with a handful of blogs – and David’s is one of them.  I go to David’s site at least once a day and have enjoyed the banter back and forth over the past few years that has evolved in our online communications. I do hope that he eventually returns to blogging but if he doesn’t I still wanted to acknowledge his contributions and express how much I admire both David and his commitment to his blog over the past 5+ years.

Stop by and leave a comment on his blog. He’ll be blogging through the end of May.

Taye Diggs

Ever since seeing Idina Menzel perform on the Atlantis Cruise earlier this month I’ve found myself thinking about her very handsome husband, Taye Diggs.

I remember the first time I ever saw him in the late 90s movie How Stella Got Her Groove Back where he played the role of the young, Jamaican lover of the much older Stella Payne played by Angela Bassett.  His career has spanned television, movies and Broadway. It was his role in a little off Broadway musical called Rent where he met his wife, Idina.  Taye has recently added the role of father when his son was born a few years ago.  His new role as Dad has done nothing to diminish his sex appeal and he continues to distract me.

Anne Hathaway on gay rights

I couldn’t have said it better myself Anne. Thanks for being a decent human being. Now if we can just get a few more decent people together to end all this indecency.
