Head of the Charles is this weekend

Regatta

Head of the Charles Regatta is Saturday and Sunday

The Head Of The Charles Regatta (HOCR) is a Boston area tradition that dates back to 1965 and has evolved into a massive two-day rowing competition that draws more than 11,000 athletes and 400,000 spectators, making it the largest rowing event in the world. The 2018 HOCR takes place this Saturday and Sunday during chilly weather conditions, but if you’ve not been before, I’d suggest heading down to the Charles River to cheer on these amazing athletes.

HEAD OF CHARLES REGATTA – OCTOBER 20-21

The organizers have created a great website that includes more information about the races, maps and FAQs. You can learn more by visiting the official HOCR website, www.hocr.org.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:

I have a head but no body,
A heart but no blood,
Leaves with no branches,
I grow but without wood.
What am I?

Mancandy

man candy, mancandy, handsomeI’ve been traveling all week and have had little time to look at or update the blog in the evening so I figured nobody would complain with a little mancandy. Think of this blog post as a calorie free treat just for you.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

robert frost, poem, poetryIn what has become an unintentional tradition, each October I post this poem. It is a personal favorite and happens to be by the 20th century poet, Robert Frost.

Nothing gold can stay was inspired by the fall foliage in New England and was written nearly 100 years ago, back in 1923.

Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
