The Head Of The Charles Regatta (HOCR) is a Boston area tradition that dates back to 1965 and has evolved into a massive two-day rowing competition that draws more than 11,000 athletes and 400,000 spectators, making it the largest rowing event in the world. The 2018 HOCR takes place this Saturday and Sunday during chilly weather conditions, but if you’ve not been before, I’d suggest heading down to the Charles River to cheer on these amazing athletes.
The organizers have created a great website that includes more information about the races, maps and FAQs. You can learn more by visiting the official HOCR website, www.hocr.org.
There is a lot happening this weekend, but I’d like to encourage everyone to head down to the Charles River this weekend to cheer on the rowers who will be here all weekend for 54th Head of the Charles Regatta.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
I wish I knew more or could share more about this handsome Brazilian who I’ve been following recently on Instagram. All I can say is that if you like the photo shared above then you’ll probably like having steinxavier in your Instagram feed. Always front-and-center in the photos, steinxavier loves the camera and as you can see from above – the camera loves him right back.

In what has become an unintentional tradition, each October I post this poem. It is a personal favorite and happens to be by the 20th century poet, Robert Frost.
Nothing gold can stay was inspired by the fall foliage in New England and was written nearly 100 years ago, back in 1923.
Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
