Vintage gay

This photo looks vaguely familiar. I’m unsure if I’ve previously posted this before so apologies if it is a repeat. The guy on the left looks as if he’s vaguely annoyed with his boyfriend but the intimacy is still there – with his hands on his knees. Who knows, what he might be thinking about but I know I’d find it hard to concentrate with someone kissing my neck.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

The Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit comprised of LGBT-owned businesses and the Commonwealth’s largest, most innovative, and profitable corporations. They routinely host events designed to cultivate inclusive relationships and help to drive economic impact.

Next week the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free job fair on Wednesday, October 12th at Suffolk University. Representatives from their partner companies will feature open positions, share how their company supports and welcomes LGBTQ+ employees, and answer any questions you may have.

Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up one or two of your own. Leave a funny caption in the comment section, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.

Be right there. Just need to rearrange a few things.

NYC LGBTQ Film Festival

Whether you live in Hell’s Kitchen or in Hell, Michigan (yeah that’s an actual town), you can watch this year’s NYC LGBTQ Film Festival which runs from October 13 – 25th. The hybrid festival will include more than 130 new LGBTQ+ stories, special events and panel discussions.

A few movies that have caught my eye include Lance Black’s film Mama’s Boy (live viewing on opening night), My Policeman which is based on a book by Bethan Roberts that I reviewed recently (you can read my book review here), and Keep the Cameras Rolling: The Pedro Zamora Way, but there are many more which you can peruse, here.

If you love independent / LGBTQ+ film, you should check out this year’ NYC LGBTQ Film Festival. This year’s virtual all access streaming pass (10/13 – 25) is $95. For more information about the festival and streaming pass click the link below and enjoy.

Temptation Tuesday

This isn’t the first time – nor will it be the last time that the handsome French fitness model, Fabian Sassier, is likely to be seen on this blog. I don’t know anything about him but I do know he makes for a great Temptation Tuesday.

It’s Halloween season: Haunted Houses and what’s happening in Salem, MA

Halloween

Tis the season to scare the crap out of oneself. While I’m no expert on this sort of thing and don’t go to any of these haunted houses, each year I pull together information about haunted houses in the area.

Below you’ll find information and links to several haunted houses in Greater Boston as well as a number of activities for anyone contemplating a visit to Salem, MA this month.

BARRETT’S HAUNTED MANSION: Sunday thru Thursday Barrett’s Haunted Mansion offers FREE Admission to active duty military ID. There is also a $5 off coupon on their tickets page of their website (scrolll to the bottom of the page), bhmansion.com. Follow them on social media on IG: @bhmansion & FB: Barrett’s Haunted Mansion.

FACTORY OF TERROR is located in Fall River (the Worcester location will return next October). More details about tickets and hours can be found on their website, factoryofterror.com. Follow them on social media on IG: @factory_of_terror & FB: Factory of Terror.

HYSTERIA HAUNTED FARM & FLASHLIGHT MAZE is in Danvers, MA at Connor’s Farm. They are open Friday – Sunday through the month of October. For more information and tickets visit their website, hysteriadanvers.com. Follow them on social media on FB: Hysteria Danvers.

SPOOKY WORLD is located in Southern NH and may be the largest haunted house in New England. Based on feedback I read online, you may want to consider purchasing their VIP tickets. For more information about special events and ticket prices visit their website,  Nightmarenewengland.com. Follow them on social media on IG: @SpookyWorld & FB: Spooky World.

WITCH MANSION & HAUNTED HOUSE is appropriately named since it is located in Salem, MA. The mansion opens for select days starting in May but is open 7-days a week in the month of October. For more information about events and tickets, visit their website, Witchmansion.com. Follow themon social media on IG: @WitchMansionSalem & FB: WitchMansion.

Halloween

HALLOWEEN IN SALEM, MA

Few places embrace Halloween like Salem, MA. For those who have never visited Salem in October, I recommend it, but warn you to expect massive crowds. When I was in my 20s a friend had an apartment overlooking the Salem Common, and I’d go to his annual Halloween party. They remain some of my favorite memories from my late 20s.

Are you planning a visit to Salem? Consider taking the MBTA commuter rail to avoid traffic and dealing with parking. You’ll want to take the Newburyport / Rockport Line. The line’s schedule is here.

Voodoo and Vampires & Ghosts Walking Tour
Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery: A horror museum
Chambers of Terror
HYSTERIA: Haunts & Horrors
“Festival of the Dead” Psychic Fair and Witches Market
Salem Witch Trial Museum
Salem Ghost Tour

Note that the annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will be Thursday, October 6th.

Saturday morning coffee

Enjoy your morning cup of joe. BTW, meet Joe.
