Vintage gay

I love this week’s vintage gay photo of Frank and Jack which dates back 80 years ago to 1942. I’d love to know if they were more than friends who liked to share ice creams and photo booth photos.

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Little Christmas Tree Shop of Horrors

Ryan Landry and The Gold Dust Orphans return this winter with their holiday spectacular, Little Christmas Tree Shop of Horrors.

Little Christmas Tree Shop of Horrors
Holiday Run: December 1 – 23
At The Iron Wolf Theatre in S. Boston
Get Your Tickets Here!

For those uninitiated, Landry and his creative troupe of theatrical misfits have been entertaining audiences in Boston and Provincetown for more than two decades. The holiday shows in recent years have been absolutely irreverant and hilarious poking fun at gay cliches, social mores / customs, and of course conservative politics.

About Little Christmas Tree Shop of Horrors
Who is killing the somewhat innocent, questionably respectable people of Revere, Massachusetts? And at Christmas, for Christs sake! Nervous Dollar Store manager, Norbert Feinstein knows, but he’s too busy pining for his co-worker, Tawdry and running from his boss, everyone’s favorite holiday villain, Hermione P. Grinchley! Things look pretty bleak for our heroes until they come across the strangest little Christmas tree… a Christmas tree that KILLS!

Monday morning mancandy

Brazilian hunk Marcel Kaufmann was a Mancandy Monday post back in June and the response was *unsurprisingly* strong so I thought I’d share another photo of Marcel which I pulled from his Instagram account for today’s mancandy post. I edited this a bit but you can see the blurred out original on Insta.

Sandro from the Great British Bake Off

Season 13 of the Great British Bake Off (or Great British Bake Show as it is called in the US) started this past Friday, and I’ve yet to start watching it, but I’m already smitten by Sandro. The 30 year old nanny who lives in London and is originally from Angola has caused quite a stir on gay Twitter.

According to his bio on Radio Times, he turned to baking as a form of therapy after his father passed away when he was 21, and he now runs virtual baking classes for children with autism. Aside from a love of children, he is passionate about fitness and has a background in dance.

Earlier this week fans of Sandro took to Twitter with some pretty funny Tweets to express their feelings about the baker.

If you would like to follow Sandro he is active on Instagram and Tik Tok. You can check out his IG at @sandrosbakes and his TikTok account under the same username, here.

Season 13 of The Great British Bake Show is available for streaming on Netflix now.

Kibitz with ya tits: Joe Posa as Joan Rivers

Joe Posa returns to Club Cafe later this month with his show Kibitz With Ya Tits on Friday, September 30th. The write up about the show says that Joan pulls back the curtain and interviews drag performers Thirsty Burlington and Mizery with their guard down and tits off (out of drag). Posa’s cutting wit as Joan Rivers is sure to entertain.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

This week’s brain teaser: Two men are in a desert. They both have packs on. One of the guys is dead. The guy who is alive has his pack open, the guy who is dead has his pack closed. What is in the pack?

Photographer Gideon Mendel’s project The Ward began in 1993 when he started spending a number of weeks on the Charles Bell wards in London’s Middlesex Hospital. All the patients in this ward were dying with the knowledge that there was no cure for the disease. You can learn more about this couple Michael and John and others in the 2018 Metro article, Memories from the heart of the Aids crisis shows true love in a time of terrible tragedy.
