Happy birthday Dad

My father turns 65 today.  I love him very much. We’ll be driving up to NH to have lunch and spend the afternoon together. This is a photo of him with my mother from last year.

Men of Twitter: Holiday edition

Each Monday I post profiles of men who catch my eye and whom I think you may enjoy following.  I refer to these weekly posts as Men of Twitter. Each day this week I’ve decided I would feature a handful of the men from this past year.  Take a moment to check out these profiles and follow if on Twitter.

ChrisNogiec – Chris is a Fitness Expert in Boston who I originally featured in April.  Everytime I see Chris I have ab envy.

xxCharlieJ – Charlie is from Michigan and is a great guy to chat with on Twitter.  He too has abs that just won’t quit – I think that’s an eight-pack.

Str8Cam – Jeff was featured this past summer.  The fact that he has an amazing upper body and is easy on the eyes made him a natural for Men of Twitter.

Happy Boxing Day

Boxing Day is a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26. It is observed in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations. I use it as an excuse to post a sexy picture of a boxer.

AussieBrenton – Brenton lives in Sydney Australia. He’s a sweetheart. He also happens to write an excellent blog called, Aussielicious.

FLHotty1 – I met Will in Provincetown, MA over Fourth of July weekend.  He proved to be as handsome in person as his picture (and just as nice).

TheMoInMontrose – Alan lives in Houston and is one of the nicest guys I’ve met on Twitter. He’s easy going and an all round great guy. Check him out.

Twas the night before Christmas

Well its not quite night in Boston just yet, but it will be before I realize it.  Today will be spent running errands and getting our home ready for  friends who will stop by this evening.  This is a tradition we started a few years back when we realized we had several friends who would not be going home for Christmas.  We dubbed it an orphans Christmas Eve and each year since then we’ve hosted what is a very relaxing and pleasant evening in my opinion.  As a result there will be little time to blog.

Tomorrow, Sergio and I will drive one hour north of Boston to a tiny town in Southern New Hampshire where my parent’s live so I’d like to use this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas.  For those who don’t celebrate the holiday, I’d still like to say “good tidings we bring” as the song’s lyrics say.  I’m not 100% certain what “tidings” are but it sounds nice, doesn’t it?

Merry Merry

Socialites

Here is a picture I just received of me yakking it up with my good friend Ben at a Christmas Party in Boston earlier this month.  Ben is one of the men who will be joining Sergio and me on our maiden voyage next month.

Gay community apologizes to Amy Koch for ruining her marriage

Former Minnesota Senate majority leader Amy Koch has been a vocal opponent of gay marriage. She tried (unsuccessfully) to amend her state constitution to add language that would make marriage between a man and a woman. Last week this powerful politician announced she’d be stepping down as the majority leader and would not seek re-election in November.

What was the cause of her departure from the State Senate?

The Minnesota Post reports that she was confronted with allegations of an “inappropriate relationship” with a male Senate staffer and those allegations were presented to Senate leaders by other Senate staff members.  To further compound the issue, this woman who has been on a crusade to “Save Marriage” apparently is already married – and her philandering apparently was ongoing while she was routinely campaigning to amend the Minnesota Constitution to ensure same sex marriage could never happen in her state.

A sudden case of karma biting Koch in the ass.

One Minneapolis resident took Sen. Koch’s transgressions personally.  Since he’s gay, he assumed her marriage’s failure must have something to do with him so he wrote her a letter expressing his sympathies for the break up and acknowledges his role as a gay man.  I’ve included an excerpt from his letter below for you.

On behalf of all gays and lesbians living in Minnesota, I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for our community’s successful efforts to threaten your traditional marriage. We apologize that our selfish requests to marry those we love has cheapened and degraded traditional marriage so much that we caused you to stray from your own holy union for something more cheap and tawdry.

You can read John’s letter in its entirety here.

Santa, all I want for Christmas is abs

Since I’ve been so good, may I please have nicely defined abs for Christmas?

Schweddy BosGuy

So here I sit dripping in sweat after returning from a quick run at the gym. Perhaps the dedication my partner has shown going to the gym these past few months is starting to influence me or perhaps I’m simply trying to offset all the extra cocktails and treats I’ve been enjoying. I’m not really questioning the logic, I’m just hoping that I don’t fall off this proverbial workout wagon.

I’m continuing to work out with my trainer Stew two times a week.  Earlier this fall I changed up my work out routine and decided every other Wednesday I would spend one hour on either back or chest – by the end of that hour I’m hurting (in a good way) and I can feel the effects for the next several days.  Every Friday I spend one hour on arms and core which leaves me tired and out of breathe. I’ve not seen any real change in my physique but I think I’m getting stronger.  Starting this week, I’ve thrown in a couple of cardio sessions.  Nothing serious – 30 to 45 minute runs, but it adds a bit more to the week and makes me feel better about myself.

I hope to stick with this thru next week too so I have a leg up on all the people who return to the gym starting Jan 1.  How about you? Have you been working out?  Do you have any personal fitness goals?

What not to buy BosGuy for Christmas

So many people have asked me where they can find this (me thinks this might make the rounds for gag gifts). You can check out the website by linking here. You can actually send a Pee & Poo eCard to friends from the site too #Klassy.

Gingrich tells Gay Iowan you better vote for Obama

I don’t know if I should applaud or gag at Republican nominee hopeful, Newt Gingrich’s response to a gay Iowan who asked him ” if he’s elected, how does he plan to engage gay Americans.”   Newt’s response “vote for Obama.”

I no longer apologize for who I am. I’ll follow Newt’s advice

Gingrich has gone so far in recent days  to indicate that if President, he would not follow judicial rulings he disagreed with and would have such “activist judges” arrested – for example federal judges who rule in favor of same sex marriage he would deem “activist”.

Interesting that there are many in the gay community who bemoan the GLBT community is beholden to the far from perfect Democratic Party, but when provided the Newt alternative, I’m curious how this is perceived as a choice? If Newt was asked  the same question but in place of the word “gay” the person asked “Woman”, “Black”, “Latino” or “Jewish” I wonder what the public’s response would be if he told them “vote for Obama”?  You and I both know he’d be labelled a misogynist, racist or antisemitic; so in my opinion the current Republican nominee front runner is homophobic.  Bravo Republican party… now you have a candidate proud to wear the badge of discrimination and hate.  Two Christian values that seem so appropriate for this time of year.

Get your hump on: Happy Hump Day

Here is my special Christmas-themed Happy Hump Day (#HHD) post for you.  Get your hump on this Christmas.

Night view of downtown Boston

Last night Sergio took our friend Rodrigo to the top of The Custom House to show him downtown Boston at night.  From the top of this iconic building, one can get beautiful views of Boston harbor, Faneuil Hall Market, the North End and parts of downtown Boston. Here are a few photos that they snapped.

Faneuil Hall Market Place

An historic meeting hall off to the left of this picture and not visible is where the marketplace got its name.  The middle arcade with the dome is filled with stall after stall of food shops and the arcades above and below house retail & restaurant with the upper floors reserved for office space.  This is Boston’s version of Chicago’s Navy Pier or S.F.’s Fisherman’s Wharf.  Its where tourists come to visit and young 20-somethings get obnoxiously drunk on weekends.

Christopher Columbus Park / North End

The lower left of the picture is part of the Rose Kennedy Greenway which replaced Boston’s elevated highway. The upper left of the photo shows the North End (Boston’s Little Italy); where my grandmother grew up and my brother currently lives. The A-frame building to the right is the start of Long Wharf (where I catch the high speed ferry to Provincetown). Lastly, the blue lights are actually covering an extended arch that runs through the North End’s popular Christopher Columbus park and overlooks Boston Harbor.

Bunker Hill Monument

North of the North End in Charlestown is the Bunker Hill Monument.  The obelisk which you can walk up was built in the 1800s to commemorate the first major conflict between British and Patriot forces which took place in 1775 and was where rebelling colonists were ordered “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes”. A short walk from here (but not visible) is The U.S.S. Constitution (a.k.a. Old Ironsides) – the oldest commissioned ship in the world.

OMG: The They Fit Kit

Nik over at My Bizarre world blog was jokingly listing a few Christmas gifts in his post, “Gift ideas”. Among the gifts listed was the FitKit.  I thought it was hilarious and figured you may feel the same.

The site claims it is introducing the world’s first custom-fit condoms with 95 different sizes for your maximum pleasure & comfort.  I’m not 100% convinced that one would need such customization, but I think its a genius marketing move.  One thing that seems to always sell is sex.

Unfortunately, the site is in the UK and at the moment they can only “tailor” condoms for those in the E.U. but they do encourage you to reach out to them and if you like you can print off the “ruler” they provide (I’ve included a snap shot to the left).

Check out to the official “TheyFit” website by linking here.

Wham “Last Christmas”

Time to gay up the BosGuy blog to get ready for Christmas and nothing says “gay” quite like Wham.  Enjoy this holiday ditty from George and Andrew.

Try not to laugh too hard at the “straight acting” George Michael who actually has better hair and prettier lips than any of the female models in the video.
