Kiss 108FM Matty in the Morning

Bob Kraft prostitution ring, Matty at Jupiter spaAnyone who has grown up in Boston knows Matty in the Morning. He has been broadcasting the morning show from Kiss 108 for 38 years and remains the most popular morning radio show in part because of his wicked sense of humor.

When news broke yesterday that 77 year old New England Patriots owner, Bob Kraft, was being charged with soliciting prostitution in Jupiter, FL, Matt Siegel (a.k.a. Matty in the morning) drove up to the spa that fronted for the prostitution ring to snap this hilarious photo. It appears that not only RPDR contestants are great at throwing shade. If you check out the post on his IG account, be sure to read through the comments – some of them are hilarious.

To mix things up, I’ve included a decidedly provocative riddle to see if you can come up with the correct answer. I’ll confirm answers later so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away.

This week’s brain teaser:
What gets longer if pulled, fits snugly between breasts and works when jerked?

All hail Madonna: GLAAD recipient of Advocate for Change

gay rights, gay allies, MadonnaI’ve always loved Madonna, but her appeal was in part because she was a lot more than just a pop singer. She was an anomaly; an outspoken, vulgar woman who thrived on the hypocrisy of the 80s and a champion the LGBTQ community far before it was trendy to wear a red ribbon at award ceremonies.

So I’m happy Madonna will be presented with the Advocate for Change Award at the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards in NYC this May.  The inaugural Advocate for Change Award was given to former President Bill Clinton in 2013. Madonna will become only the second person to receive the honor, which is given only to those who “changed the game for LGBTQ people around the world” through their work, and I couldn’t agree more with GLAAD for acknowledging her.

Vintage gay

men of color, vintage men of color, black gay coupleThis week’s photo comes from the Facebook collection of vintage photos from David Torguella (a.k.a. Lady Torguella), that long-time reader Bob Lowe turned me on to. Thanks Bob!

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Love it: New emoji “pinching hand”

As you know, I tend to let other sites focus on breaking news, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I read this news story about Unicode releasing 230 new symbols. Officially this is referred to as the “pinching hand“, but Twitter had a field day with suggestions for what this might actually be used to represent.tiny penis emojiI can only imagine how gay apps like Grindr, Scruff and Growlr might react with this new visual vocabulary. But I can sum it up my feelings with this emoji.

112 Shawmut mixed use project gets financing

South End development, Shawmut Avenue/Washington Street Block Public MeetingI first wrote about this project in the fall of 2017 but since then with the exception of a public meeting held last spring, there has been very little news about the proposed mixed use complex that will span nearly 2 acres on the border of the South End and Chinatown. Little news until last week when the developers announced they had received $105 million in construction financing.

For those unfamiliar with this project the Shawmut Avenue/Washington Street Block project will include three new buildings and represents a collaborative effort between the developer and two Chinatown community organizations. All combined the project will include more than 500 residential units, 230 parking spaces as well as space to house two religious sanctuaries with combined seating for 1,130 people, a gymnasium, fitness rooms, offices, classrooms and meeting spaces for religious education, recreational and social services uses. The new buildings will also have new space for retail.
